Woodworking Experience:
Great track
Purchased this for a "mid century" modern console table I made for my daughter. She asked for sliding doors and this was a perfect fit.
Used 1/4 maple plywood for the doors, they work perfectly, still missing the pulls

Perfect For My Cabinet Retrofit Job
This is my second set of these. The first worked out well with doors made from 1/4" bead board. Screwing them down didn't work for me, however. Instead, I pre-drilled down the center line and used brads and wood glue to secure them. No splits to report. My job required two sets (10 total feet) of these. I mistakenly ordered only one set and had to reorder. Rockler shipped them out fast so my delay was minimal.

Completed a long awaited project
When I found my antique china cabinet the middle glass doors were missing, being handy that did not matter too much to me. Right after I got it home we had a house fire which caused me serious health issues so projects were placed on hold. I finally decided to finish it and convinced my hubby he wanted to! He asked me to get these wooden tracks for the new glass I found and he stained it exactly the color we needed. Very easy to work with and made the project a pleasure. After 10 years my china cabinet has glass in all the doors! Thank you, Rockler!

Woodworking Experience:
well made and packaged
The track came packaged with a stiffiner board so there was no important consideration for a sliding door track. The track is well thought out and manufactured. The wood is solid and could be simply stained or painted.

I don't have a router, and I want to turn an old (110 years!) drawer from a built-in storage chest original to our house into a medicine cabinet. This is the perfect way to bring new life to an old but otherwise sturdy piece without the risk of damaging it. It saves me the time and effort of building the cabinet too!

Do I need to add any hardware or lubricant to make the doors slide smoothly in the tracks?
Eric E on Mar 25, 2018
How do you calculate what size to make the doors?
Tommmmmmm on Jan 31, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Measure the thickness of the top rail at the center of the groove. Add the thickness of the front edge of the bottom edge. Add an additional 1/16" to allow the door to clear the bottom rail. Subtract the combined total of the three from the height to get the finished height of the doors.
Sorry in advance is this question seems silly ( I am a newbie at home-reno/DIY projects) I am looking for a track to install sliding doors on my bathroom vanity. It is open in the front, which drives me nuts, so I'm trying to have two sliding doors (sizes will be approx. 3ft 3.5" long by 16.5 in high. I am planning to buy two of the track sets, but wanted to know: A.) is there any specific way I should cut the second set and combine with the first to make for the best sliding of the doors? and B.) What other hardware/items would I need aside from the doors to properly install the rails? Thanks!
ColourmeCait on Nov 16, 2016
BEST ANSWER: As far as combining the two pieces of the rails, just make sure that the edges are cut perfectly.: absolutely square in both directions. If you can, use the factory-cut edge to join, and place the end you cut at the end does. Another suggestion: split the opening in half and cut the track so that the two pieces meet in the center of the opening. If your opening is 39.5 inches, cut each set at 19.25 inches. Your doors will be slightly longer than half of the width, so no matter where the door is sitting, it will always be longer than the tack and can never get stuck if the tracks aren't perfectly aligned.

No other hardware is needed except screws to fasten the track to the cabinet. Use flathead screws and countersink so the heads are flush with the wood. Careful! These rails split easily"
How wide are the tracks i.e what width glass goes in the grooves?
David R on Jan 23, 2018
BEST ANSWER: The groves will accept 1/4" thick material (glass, plywood panels, etc.). The width of the panel depends on your cabinet track length. You'll want to overlap the panels (1/2" or so) to avoid gaps.
I want to make a sliding door for my closet the door will be 2' X 8' and 1/4" thick. will this tracks be good to use for this purpose ?
Sanjeev K on Dec 13, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Hi, I assume you mean 2' high and 8' long? In that case, this will work perfectly. If you mean 2' wide and 8' high, and if you are using plywood, then I would think twice because the plywood might bend/sag out and the track is too small to prevent that. In any case, you must make sure that the wood is perfectly straight - if you are using 1/4" plywood then choose your piece with care because if it's bent then the door won't slide well (or at all). However, even if you use a very slightly bent piece it will straighten very slowly over time (if it's 2' high and 8' wide). I made doors that are around 2' high and 5' wide and I love them. Even though one door was made of slightly bent wood, it still works but does not slide smoothly. Good luck!
Will these rails work for mirrored closet doors?
Marylyn S on Jun 3, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I used these rails to make small panel doors 2' x 2' x 1/4" panels in a reloading bench I made, very light wood. If your wanting to use these for heavy closet doors, well, I don't think they are made for that, tracks are not big. Not sure this will help you, but good luck.
Can this be bent to a curve using steam bending methods?
Christian M on Feb 4, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I doubt it. The top and bottom rail would have to be bent to the exact curve, and the doors would also have to be precisely bent. I believe custom routing the tracks would be a more sound method.
Would these tracks work for 1/4 “ glass panels 15” wide and 30” high? Will they slide easily?
Larry on Sep 26, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Larry, We used our tracks with 1/4" plywood for cabinets in our van. They worked just fine. The panels are 16" wide and 24" high. The van bounces around off road and the panels stay in place. Be sure the tracks are plum and parallel. If the glass on the track is smooth they should slide easily. Thanks - David
I need to ask. If i need 4 sets of tracts . One for the top and one for the bottom?

BEST ANSWER: This item includes one 5 foot top section and one 5 foot bottom section.
What is length/width of track?
Harold F on Jul 25, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Harold, the specs on the Rockler web page shows these tracks are 5 feet long and 1 1/8 wide.
beginner woodworker/advanced designer, rigging sliding, vertical, plexiglass, panels (+/- 42" x 12-16"wide) to convert built-in wood bookshelves into display shelving.. WHAT THICKNESS SHOULD MY GLASS BE TO WORK WITH THESE TRACKS? (no frames, just simple 45* finished edges) was planning on around .125", do i need to bite the bullet and get closer to .25" - as rec'd for this track, or make my husband proud and be as cheap as possible?
