Kapro's 12'' magnetic combination square uses six perfectly-balanced rare-earth magnets to lock the blade into place. Just insert the blade anywhere along its length and it clicks firmly into the head. The 12'' ruler has finely etched graduations in both inches and centimeters. The square is made from stainless steel and cast zinc for durability and resistance to corrosion. It includes a holster that slips over your belt and a stainless steel scribe that is magnetically attached to the head.

Features:

  • Magnetic blade lock for easy adjustments
  • Stainless steel blade with clearly etched graudations in imperial and metric scales
  • Heavy-duty cast zinc head is milled on five sides for superior accuracy
  • Stainless steel scribe stores in the head magnetically
  • Cloth belt holster included

Nice improvement
So far it holds well, easy to adjust, and markings are clear and easy to read. Definitely better than my old combination square that is cumbersome to set and tends to come loose and move.

It has become my "go to" combo square. Very handy tool and easy to use. The ruler can move a little if you hit it against something while using it.

How does one adjust the position of the rule? Rare earth magnets are known for their strong grabbing/holding ability. I would expect the rule to 'snap' into place when it got close to the magnets but not necessarily where I exactly wanted it. Can one slide it a bit to adjust? Is sliding it too hard to get a fine adjustment exactly?

BEST ANSWER: Slides with a little effort but easy to set where you want and it doesn't move unless you bump it pretty hard.
how do the magnets work if the blade is stainless steel? Magnets don't work on stainless steel?

BEST ANSWER: Only the highest grades of SS are anti-magnetic...
Is this metric or imperial? The photos appear to be metric
James L. V on Oct 21, 2019
BEST ANSWER: There is a mm scale on both sides. One side has an imperial scale divided into eights and the other side has an imperial scale divided into 1/32 of an inch.
