Woodworking Experience:
Mine are very fancy and precisely cut. Maybe not quite as pretty as the picture, but very glad to have them!

Woodworking Experience:
Beautiful grain pattern, cut to the exact size for fashioning into a knife handle. The actual wood is better than the photos.

Walnut Scales
I became frustrated trying to split a one by four inch walnut piece, and decided to go with your scales. My first carving, and sanding opportunity worked out just fine. The knife turned out to be an excellent 50th Birthday gift.

Fillet knife
Roughed out on belt sander. No issues with heat sensitivity. Final shaping with 600 then 1500. Finish is Tung Oil. Very pleased with this product.

How do you finish the walnut scales?
Allthumbs on Oct 4, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I used the scales for gun grips. Once they are shaped, sanded and drilled I use Birchwood Casey TRU-OIL (linseed oil base) or Formbsy's Tung Oil. Either product will seal the wood and give it a sheen. Truoil is shiner and may be matted with Scotch Bright. Tung oil gives a moisture proof finish.
