Thick strong and perfect handles
These leather handles are nice and thick. Very strong and perfectly cut. I used leather conditioner on them but it probably isn't needed.

Leather Handle
The leather handle is a quality product. I ordered it thinking I might be able to use it on a smaller wooden toolbox I made for my son's wood carving tools. Unfortunately, the hardware for attaching it was bigger than I anticipated and was more suited for thicker material....probably 3/4 inch or more thickness. I returned the handle and related hardware.

Really Nice
I used this product along with the mounting hardware on a 1920 era trunk that I recently restored. Very good quality, and added a lot to the final product.

I used this heavy duty leather handle on a case that weighs over 30 pounds. Like a good pair of shoes the handle may require some break in time for maximum comfort. It folds flat when not in use. Good solution for heavy cases.

Used the leather handle for wooden tackle box I made for my grandson for Christmas, together with the pinned hold downs. Really looks great, very traditional. Sets off the rest of the box that used brass piano hinge and brass lock.Gives every evidence of lasting a long time. The leather is so heavy I used a wedge whilst storing the box in order for the leather to take a set for ease of gripping.Very pleased.

Excellent quality leather handles at a resonable price. Used the handles to repair a steamer trunk. Should have ordered the pinned loops at the same time. Fun project - good product.

The old family steamer trunk had lost its usefulness because the handles were rotted and broken. With a minimum of effort the trunk is useful and even looks better.

Do these come in pairs or individual?

BEST ANSWER: This item is priced "$xx Each" through Rockler's catalog, and there are not many other sources for them. When you buy two, you get two strap handles. Sometimes only one handle fails on a trunk, so paying for two when you only need one (and you are not particular about an exact color match) isn't something everybody likes to do. On the positive side, I was very pleased with what arrived in the shipment when I ordered them, as the leather appears to be appropriately thick and strong. My customer's trunk handles had lasted for nearly a century, and perhaps the pair I install will do the same. If someone hasn't priced tanned leather hides in the grade needed to create these handles recently, they might be surprised to find that Rockler's price for this item isn't out of line given that the holes are punched and the doubled leather is sewn already.
