Leigh FMT Pro Frame Mortise and Tenon Jig
If you can use a plunge router, you can cut strong, perfectly fitting mortise and tenon joints in no time. Easily rout single, double, twin, quadruple or even triple mortise and tenon joints, plus angled and compound-angled joints, in stock up to 3" x 5". Virtually any plunge router will fit and still be available in seconds for other uses.

Nothing provides matching joint halves with the ease and accuracy of the new Leigh FMT! Named one of Workbench Magazine's Top 10 Innovative Tools of 2004, the FMT Jig allows you to rout both parts of the joint with just one joint guide, one router bit and one jig setup. Make perfect joints for everything from match-stick frames and miniature tables (rout joints smaller than 1/4" - so tiny they're almost beyond belief!) to full-size chairs and 6-foot garden gates.

Features:
  • It's remarkably easy to set up perfectly aligned multiple mortises and tenons on the FMT. Precision and repeatability are made possible by adjustable table limit stops that control the table's range of motion in both X and Y axes.
  • With each mortise or tenon position sighted and limit stops set, you're ready to rout double, quadruple, or even triple joints with the same ease and precision as a single mortise and tenon.
  • Joint tightness is infinitely adjustable by simply turning a calibrated knob; the fit is recordable and repeatable.
  • Sliding cursor provides easy alignment.
  • Bolts to a board and clamps to a bench.
  • No dedicated router is required!
  • Comes with universal sub-base that attaches to virtually all plunge routers, five 5/16" guides that will make over 20 sizes of mortise and tenon, guide stand, 5/16" spiral upcut cutter with 1/2" shank, two cam-action Speed-Clamps, outrigger bars, adjustable sidestop fence, fully illustrated user guide, screwdrivers, and mounting hardware.
  • The ACMTC Accessory Kit (#39770 - Sold Separately) includes eight 1/4" guides, four 3/8" guides, four 1/2" guides, eight-piece solid carbide spiral upcut bit set, and wood storage box.

FMT PRO
I've never made a tenon & mortise joint before. After watching the video I decided to buy it. Set up was fairly simple and took less than an hour before I was making my first practice cuts. The next day I set out to build a dresser. It took over 100 separate operations to make all the pieces and they all fit together perfectly! I love my Leigh FMT Pro!

Good tool
Owned mine for over a year now and glad i made the purchase. Spent months looking at Dominos and Leigh offerings. Tried all of the tools and jigs out and decided the for the majority of projects I will build, the FMT pro was the best choice. With all tools there is a learning curve. I cut a bunch of scraps into face frame pieces and started learning how tool works. After a few days I came to a conclusion that I needed to correct a few things. First you must use a router that has a very precise and accurate plunge. PC690 did not fit that requirement. Good router, but plunge base was too sloppy. Next and the biggest item is layout. Good results come from precise layout and setup. I ended up getting a Jessem WoodSaber marking gauge and that solved that issue for me. The router I found that worked perfectly for me was a Makita RP2301Fc. Last is wood prep. As will all projects, your wood must be square and parallel on all faces. Cannot find anything really bad to say about this jig. Manual is great and new video is a winner. Would i make this purchase again, yes. would i recommend to a freind, yes

best tool ever for the weekend warrior!!!
If your like me don't like reading manuals and just watch the dvd. and try and remember everything, only to learn more from all my mistakes than any manual can teach. well you have a learning curve of about 4 hours. then you will be pro. perfect repeat ability and flush joints. recommended to any one that wants to spend the the money on a quality tool!

Very nice product. Setup is tedious but not hard the first time. Once you have your router "mated" with the jig this is a lot of fun. This thing takes the inexperience out of the equation. As long as you follow directions you will make some very nice joints. I would make a reference block and as you get guides make a mortise and tenon and mark it with guide size and bit size. This makes it a lot easier if you are building a project that requires several different sizes.

I think this is one of...
I think this is one of the best-designed woodworking tools I've ever used. When you try to make stupid mistakes it stops you. All the little things are done well and construction is excellent. I just did 16 tenons in about an hour and the last one was just as good as the first one. Placed right, sized right. What you want from a tool - consistent results with less effort. Not to mention great service from the Leigh.I'd like better dust collection - the port hole is too big for end mortises so I have to place a block in the dust collector when mortising. Otherwise it's a 10.

Will it work on large lumber like a 2×4 mortise in wide side?
Glenn B on Mar 16, 2016
Does anyone have any experience using this jig to cut mortises in curved pieces? If so, was it difficult to set up this jig do so?
A M on Apr 25, 2015
BEST ANSWER: joinery is preferably cut into pieces before curves are cut into them. Layout the piece including curves and joinery on square stock and cut joinery first and curves second.
will this jig work with festool routers?
David M on Feb 9, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Have the large Festool plunge router on mine. Fits perfectly.
Is the length of your workpiece limited by the height of your workbench?
David G on Aug 30, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The FMT pro is a fantastic jig. Highly accurate and pretty easy to use once you get the hang of it. But, yes, workbench height from the floor limits the length of your workpiece. For example, when joining a table apron to a table leg you won't have an issue with the mortise in the leg, since it oriented horizontally, but if the apron is longer than the workbench is high you won't be able to make the tenon. You can gain a few inches by securing the jig to a few pieces of wood on top of your workbench, obviously, but if you are working with an apron from a 6 foot long dining table it's going to be a problem. I would certainly buy this jig again, but now I also own a festool domino and a hybrid pantorouter - both of which can be used with workpieces in the horizontal orientation.
Is this a usable set for the Leigh FMT Pro or do i need to go spiral?

Rockler 4-Pc. Straight Bit Set - 1/2
Rockler 4-Pc. Straight Bit Set - 1/2" Shank
BEST ANSWER: Leigh recommends up-spiral bits for this jig. The jig itself and the whole system of guides is designed to be used with up-spiral bits. I have several sizes and they work great. The mortises are made with the opening facing up, so you really need the dust and wood shavings to go up & out. With a straight bit I would anticipate a lot of smoke, burning, and possibly a stalled-out router.
will this jig cut mortise & Tenons on round stock?
Dewayne M on Jan 19, 2018
BEST ANSWER: You should call the customer service team at Leigh. They are very good to work with. But yes, if you can clamp the wood piece into the correct position you can even cut M&T into match sticks.
