Just what I needed
I bought a speaker box kit that suggested I cut 2 3/4 holes for the speakers with a Forstner bit. But when I did that, they were too large. I measured the friction fit speaker and it was 68 mm (about 2 11/16); I couldn't find a reasonably priced forstner or hole cutter; and this did the trick perfectly.

Just as I wanted.

Needed a good tool to cut a hole in a hardwood clock that I've been wanting to finish for many years. This tool did the job perfectly. Thanks!

Circle cutter.
I do recommend this product. Only use it on a drill press, though.

Great little cutter!
I have been putting off a couple projects waiting for this to come in. It was everything I expected. I needed some 3.5" and 4.5" holes in MDF and didn't want to use a hole saw to make them for fear of burn marks. This cutter made perfectly clean holes, one after another.

Requires modification
This hole cutter works very well but only after it’s modified. The tip of the set screw used to adjust the hole diameter is too large to fit in the keyway of the shaft supporting the cutting tool. The result is that if the tool is used in its stock form the set screw will deform the edges of the keyway making precise diameter adjustments impossible. The more the stock tool is used the more its keyway is deformed. Once the set screw tip diameter is ground down to fit in the keyway the tool works very well.

Good product but doesn't meet my needs
I bought this to cut through a wine barrel head. The barrel head is 1 onch thick oak. It makes it clean cut, but is very slow. In addition to the line I want to cut, the cutter takes out another quarter inch. I'm going to use a hole saw instead of this product. I suspect it would work fine and softer woods.

Needs to be a better way of cutting inside holes. Couldn’t tighten set screw enough. Will try a small router and jig next time. Rather buy the router than try this again

I could not find a hole saw that would cut a hole the diameter I needed.

Conventional hole saws rarely have precise sizes. My applications require tight tolerances.

Can you buy a porcelain blade for this product that can cut porcelain?
Terry S on Oct 11, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I don’t see why you couldn’t. The problem you’ll have is the drill bit. Unless you remove it or shorten it to where it isn’t going to touch the porcelain, you won’t be able to use the cutter. Then your next problem is locating the cut without having it centered. Overall, I’d advise against it unless you have several waste pieces to work it out on.
Can this tool be used effectively with a handheld electric 1/2 HP drill?
Burton J on Sep 17, 2018
BEST ANSWER: No. Drill press only.
What is the best rpm to run this at?
Paul from TX on Feb 1, 2020
BEST ANSWER: Paul, I am not sure what RPM I was running but I know that slower is better. I think my shop smith drill press can run as low as 600 rpm. Hope that helps!
Up to what thickness of material can it drill thru?
Earl R on Oct 6, 2019
BEST ANSWER: The cutter machined edge indicates you can cut up to 3/4 inch thickness. Perhaps 5/8 is more realistic.
