Excellent for a variety of different uses works well for stabilizing a number of projects on the workbench can only be used in conjunction with thick pieces of stock you have to use pieces of material if you intend to run a router bit to make a decorative Edge

I love it! This is just what I needed. It was so hard for me to hold the router in one hand and my board in the othe so it wouldn't slip. This non-slip mat allows me more control over my router, and it's the perfect size for my table! In the past, I've used clamps to hold my board, but clamps will make indentions in soft wood. So I highly recommend this product,

Have a custom laser engraving business and do a lot of photo engraved custom made basswood plaques that need key holes and routed edges on them. This product will make it much easier to use the router.

Is this the same material found on the bench cookies?
Susan C on Aug 26, 2015
BEST ANSWER: No...it is more like the material found in rubber cabinet liners. But works great.
If I use this on my luthier bence will it stick to, or mar a guitar finish?
Skyfog on Dec 31, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Be careful, I don't know if yours (mat) is like mine but I noticed little black marks on the maple I was working with after sanding one side, can't chance that without risk of having to resand.
How do these compare to the router mat? I’m thinking if using mostly for routing pieces that are to small to be able to clamp. Think narrower than the base

Rockler Bench Cookie® Plus Work Grippers
BEST ANSWER: I use them for small pieces about 2 to 3" x 8 to 12", but anything smaller I still break out the mat, they are great for larger items like doors or door fronts for cabinets, I know they show that you can set a piece on it and route the edge, but I personally feel safer clamping it or having it set flat on my workbench. To me it's a great product if used properly, but I tend to think safety first. The last thing I want is to be putting the finishing edge on a work-piece and it moves in any direction. I use these mostly for sanding purposes. I hope this helps.
Could this be used with a Cnc router, like the X Carve?
Thomas H on Dec 6, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I would not when they get dusty they lose there grip
