Each Oneway Live Center features two glass-smooth sealed bearings mounted in tandem for minimum vibration and zero play. The centers are precision machined from premium alloy steel. They are then heat treated, ground, and electro-less nickel plated for strength, accuracy and rust protection. The unique, threaded cup center allows you to easily attach and remove the included accessories. Kit includes the necessary accessories to suit most applications: a center point, bull-nose cone, full-point cone and knock-out rod.
Features:
Center Point: Points are easily replaced when damaged.
Bull Nose Cone: A reversible bull nose cone is provided for support on the outside or the inside of turnings.
Full Point Cone: Especially suitable for candle-stick type artistry.
Knock Out Rod: Used to remove center points and as a spindle stop when attaching and removing cones.
If turning outside the capacity of the provided cone, a user specific support can be made by drilling a hole in a blank, attaching it to the live center and turning it to suit your requirements.
Shown below are pictures of the setup versatility available with this unique live center. It comes with two cones and a pen center point. Also pictured is mounting a full chuck with the available adapter nipple.
These are pricey but work work oh so well and will last much longer than the cheaper priced ones you can get elsewhere. The bearings are very good quality and I expect to get many years out of these!
Bought this a few weeks ago, been using it since I have used all the attachments and it is just what is needed for a variety of turnings. Great center piece. Oneway makes a good product quiet as can be. Truly recommend.
BEST ANSWER:Yes. The live center has multiple points including a cone attachment I use for doing thin stem goblets. Use the cone to center on the goblet cup, then tape the rim of the cup to the cone ant back out the tail stock very slightly. This allows you to turn the stem to 1/4" or less without it breaking as the stem is in a very slight tension versus compression. Also I like it as the assembly is slightly longer than the live center I was using.
