Rockler 45° Chamfer Router Bits - 1/2" Shank

Item #
GRP2124_2
Rating:
96% of 100
Our Chamfer Bits are among the most useful and popular bits in our router bit lineup. Chamfer bits are extremely versatile, since the size of the chamfer can be easily varied by adjusting the depth of cut. For this reason, it can be cost effective to buy a larger chamfer bit, as even a very large bit can cut a tiny chamfer. Each of these bits has been sharpened with 600-800 grit diamond wheels to guarantee absolute razor sharp performance. They are precision-balanced for smooth operation, and feature a baked on anti-stick coating to resist pitch and resin buildup. 1/2" shanks ensure a smooth chatter-free cut. Two flutes.

Large Chamfer
I put this chamfer bit through the test running some reclaimed 1" thick White Oak top to bottom for hours at a time on my router table. It's still very sharp and cuts smooth. I'll be using this bit a lot in the future.

Chamfer bit
This bit makes a very neat edge on 1" stock. This bit put a 45 degree angle on the inside of a rectangular hole of the top I made for an old treadle sewing machine.

This bit is more than adequate to chamfer 3/4" stock. A hold down feather board or push block should be used. Wood seems to want to raise up a bit while being cut.

Rock solid
Love this thing. Rockler appears to coat all their bits with a protective wax coating for storage/shipping, bit arrived in pristine condition. Removed the coating, chucked it up, and ran it on some hard maple. Smooth cut, not a hint of burning.

I live in a condo and use the single garage as a shop, much to the chagrin of the condo commandos. No room for a good panel saw, have trouble making accurate 45degree corners, going to try rough cut with the saw, finish with the 45 router bit.

Am chamfering the edges of drawer faces. Can't think of and easier, faster, cleaner method of completing the task. I have a lot of faith in Rockler tools and am willing to pay a premium price for a premium product.

I need to put a chamferred edge on a cabinet base and using this bit seems easier than trying to adjust my table saw blade to cut a long board.

Needed to make chamfers on three edges of a table top and a reverse chamfer on the fourth edge so I wanted a stiff shaft to avoid chatter on deep cuts.
George G on Jul 4, 2015
Had the cutting depth I needed at a price that was better than anyone else. Rockler stands for quality, so i know it's good.
