Rockler Cigar Humidor Turning Kit:

Our tubular cigar humidor maintains your favorite cigar at the correct humidity for optimum freshness, flavor and shelf life. It also makes an elegant presentation case for a gift, a guest, or for that special occasion. It uses distilled water or humidifier solution to maintain 70% humidity, similar to that in which the tobacco grew. Pair it with the turning blank of your choice, bore the hole with a 1-1/16'' Forstner bit and turn it on your lathe.

  • Tube humidor comes complete with a hygrometer that displays current humidity
  • Uses distilled water or humidifier solution to maintain 70% humidity
  • Sturdy aluminum construction with black finish
  • Can accommodate a 7'' Classic Churchill cigar with 47 ring gauge

Bushing Set for Cigar Humidor Turning Kit:

These humidor bushings are precisely machined to match the diameter of your cigar humidor, allowing you to achieve smooth, perfectly flush seams. Simply turn your blanks to match the bushing diameters, leaving a bit of extra material to allow for sanding.

  • Designed to work with the Rockler Cigar Humidor Turning Kit (#52103, sold separately)
  • Made of a tough, durable polymer
  • Soft enough to prevent damage to your turning tools

Great Christmas gift. I made four and if you turn pens this is just a larger pen turning project. Have a lot of people wanting them now. Larry

Rockler Cigar Humidor Turning Kit
I like the kit but the quality leaves it questionable. The top and bottom caps have scratches right out the package and the centerpiece(humidity gauge) had defects/scratches in the paint. For $25 I expected better quality and finish. I blame most to the packaging. Pieces are allowed to bounce around and nothing is bagged separately. I've done cheaper kits that have better packaging. Just a thought.

Woodworking Experience:
Bushings are Terrible
Bushings are made of plastic and won't stand up to sandpaper or turning tools. I opted to do a CA finish on this humidor, but they do not offer bushings that allow me to do that finish without the project sticking to turning bushings.

I have spent 2 days with this kit trying to make something I am happy with, but have only had frustration with the poor product design.

Woodworking Experience:
Finish is very delicate and easily marred. Coupler ring, collar, and top cap are very loose fit into the upper and lower tubes, should be at least a light press fit. I have doubts that fitting will remain coupled even after epoxy adhesion since they are so loose tolerance to begin with. I bought two, but I doubt I'll even bother with the second one.

Listing says 47 ring gauge, but you're showing .89" inside diameter which is about 57 ring gauge. Which is accurate?

What stops the water from spilling if humidor is laid on its side or placed in a pocket?

BEST ANSWER: The last page of the instructions discuss the hydration process. There's a foam disc that you wet. Excess fluid should be absorbed with a paper towel.

BEST ANSWER: If you made cones out of wood that would fit on your mandrel to hold the pieces tight and did careful measuring, you could do without them.
Looking to build a cigar humidor. W- 2 ft. H- 5 ft. With 4 shelves. Can you help me?
Edward T on Oct 18, 2019
BEST ANSWER: This is a kit for turning an individual cigar humidor on the lathe. It requires a bushing kit to be used with a pen turning mandrel.
Is anyone else having a problem with the green bushings fitting into the tubes? This is my third kit and I had a hard time getting the bushings into the tubes. I called Rockler and they sent me another tube and the bushings fit perfectly. Just got another set today and once again the bushings don't fit. I have to force them in and use pliers to get them out.
Bryce P on May 30, 2019
BEST ANSWER: The bushings are designed to fit snuggly. If they are too tightly you can place them on your mandrel and use a piece of fine grit sandpaper to reduce the diameter slightly.
What is recommended for the adhesive to use to glue tube in wood blank?
Larry on Feb 16, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I used two part epoxy and let it sit for a day to set up
My pen mandrel does not go all the way through the tubes and bushings. The threaded end of the rod is flush with the end of the bushing. Am I missing something?
Bryce P on Feb 2, 2019
BEST ANSWER: its a long kit, you may have to turn the top and bottom separate,
Any suggestions on getting the Hygrometer to go higher? Highest reading for me has been 45 to 50;
That has been both with the cigar in and out of the case. Optimal should be 65 - 70
