Dust Right® Bench Sweep

Item #
50608
Rating:
86% of 100

Keep your work surfaces pristine by sweeping dust and chips into our convenient ''catch-all'' Bench Sweep. Open the cover and it acts as a backstop to deflect dust and debris down into the funnel as you sweep it off your benchtop. Closing the cover provides the same function as a blast gate. A grid inside the Bench Sweep keeps larger chunks of wood out of your dust collection system, and also helps to save screws, dowels and other bits of valuable hardware that could otherwise be lost.

Features:
  • When used without a dust collector, you can hang the grid on the back of the Bench Sweep
  • Additional hooks on both ends let you store brushes and other essential tools close at hand
  • Keyhole mounting slots let you easily move the Bench Sweep from table to table
  • Dust port on funnel fits standard 2-1/2'' dust hose, as well as the Dust Right Shop Vacuum Handle (#55083, sold separately)
(1) Dust Right® Bench Sweep

Exactly What I needed
I needed a vacuum scoop for my router table for when I was free routing without my fence. This did the job perfectly.

Bench sweep
I bought this to install on my drill press table. The unit is well manufactured and the size is perfect for my table. I wanted to mount it permanently but had problems getting the screws into the end of the table. The unit has a keyhole slot but as everyone knows, trying to line up 4 of these is difficult. I ended up installing the two outer most ones and tried to screw them down with a flex shaft on the drill driver but the width was too narrow. I would recommend an improvement by placing through holes that can be drilled across the unit from the outside then plugging them with a rubber seal so suction is not lost. Otherwise this is perfect for the intended use. By the way, I mounted it onto a planed 2x4 mounted under the edge of the table that is held on with 1/4-20 bolts and star handles so the unit can be removed if desired. This also made it easier to mount flush with the table top.

i have a taller bench than most. sweeping debris to the floor usually makes cleanup more difficult. might as well sweep straight to the vac.

Looks just as easy as sweeping onto the floor but, eliminates part 2 which is picking it back up!
Randy P on Feb 2, 2017
Though this would be nice on one of my work benches. I can easily hook it up to my dust collection system and hook it up to hose with a gate.

I like the efficiency of sweeping off my bench into a inset pocket where this is installed for dust collection rather than sweeping into the air/onto the floor.

great idea for my typical "messy" work bench
Mike M on Sep 19, 2016
I hang it on the end of the workbench and sweep sawdust into it. I also hang it behind my midi lathe and sweep the sawdust into it. In both cases I attach a vac hose. As usual, I went crazy trying to find a fitting so that I could attach the hose.
