With this one simple upgrade, you'll increase the filtration of your Wall Mount Dust Collector by up to 30 times, giving the air quality in your shop a welcome boost. Makes a huge difference
I never liked the bag for the dust right. This canister makes all the difference. The beater knocks the loose dust out and the plastic bag is easy to empty.

dust collection upgrade
This filter upgraded the older dust collection system. I had the one micron bag attachment prior and while it worked great it seamed to clog quickly and as it was soft it was difficult to bang on the sides to free the fine saw dust. With this system, clogging dust quickly clears the filter with a few turns of a handle. The plastic bags are easier to empty than the cloth bags.

Dust Right Canister Filter Modified to fit Jet Collector
The kit was complete, well packed and of good quality. I already had a Jet 650CFM dust collector with 5mic bag. Recently purchase Jet Drum sander need better control. I used everything in the kit accept the attachment collar. Rockler outlet is 5inch the Jet is only 4inch. Made a wooden (what else would I use) split collar to replace/adapt canister to Jet collector. No big deal and it seems to work just fine. Getting better flow (perceived not measured) and the sound was reduced as a bonus. Takes up about the same or less space than the bag did in use.

Does an amazing job in my 231 Square foot shop
I have a smaller basement shop and didn't want to run PVC pipe everywhere as wall space was limited and the height of my ceilings was only 8 feet. Most of my tools are mobile so I just needed a solution that would allow me to move from one tool to the next pretty easily. I don't have any ventilation in the room so it was important to get a really good filter in addition to the air filters I currently have running.

I bought this Unit in addition to the wall mounted Dust Deputy and it has been amazing. The directions aren't the clearest in the world (as others have stated) but it was fairly easy to figure out.

The hand crank does a good job of knocking debris / dust out of the filter. My only complaint is the inside piece that rubs against the filter only makes contact in a few places. It would be better IMO inf the clips made contact in all places while spinning. This would clear it even better.

The pics are of all the stuff I purchased when installing the unit.

Pricey but lungs worth it
I have no way of measuring the effectiveness of the canister so have to trust specs. Much cleaner air in shop compared to 30 micron bag. Should actually filter finer materials as the pores gradually fill. Wish I had mounted it with a quick disconnect connector so I could take it outside to clean with compressed air occasionally.

Worth the money
I love that you just have to crank the handle a couple times and the internal paddle removes all the small dust particles from the filter. This insures there is no loss of suction.

BEST ANSWER: Yes it attaches with no problem. My change over went very smooth and I like the ability to see how much sawdust is in the plastic bag that collects the sawdust.
I want to use this filter with my Dewalt planer that has its own built in chip/dust blower that is very powerful. Therefore, I do not need the Dustright vacuum; only the filter and bag. It seems that the inlet diameter is 5". Is that outside diameter or inside? Does anyone sell an adapter that would allow the connection of either a 2-1/2" or 4" dust hose to that inlet?
Brian S on Aug 8, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The flange on the filter for your purpose is indeed a 5" female flange approximately 1" high, with a clamp allowing it to be tightened around a 5 in O.D. Pipe. Not really sure where you would find a 5" O.D. tube that would adapt to air hose, but that would be the least of your problem, in my opinion. Even with a "blower that is very powerful" as you state, my experience leads me to believe that you could not "BLOW" the air through corrugated tubing without it fouling up inside. Remember also that you will be dealing with "Head Pressure" when blowing. No "Head pressure" exists when "PULLING" the air. Pulling dust and chips thru a hose in exponentially easier that pushing it, even if the inside surface of the tube were smooth.
Hope this helps.

I have a wall mount collector that looks like yours, it is made by Grizzly, and has a four inch outlet for the bag…Will this filter maybe work on my collector???

Will this work with the Shop Fox W1826 Wall Dust Collector?
Alexander on Nov 9, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Alexander, The answer from me is "possibly". I know this canister filter was specifically designed for the Dust Right wall mounted dust collector, however I was able to retrofit it to the Harbor Freight 1HP dust collector using a 4" ABS coupling I found Lowe's. If that Shop Fox exhaust port has the same outer diameter as the Dust Right unit, you might be in business. Otherwise some innovation might be in order.
Does this filter, couple with the Dust Right Wall Mount Dust Collector eliminate the need for an air filtration system? I see stand alone air cleaning systems from Jet and Powermatic. Not sure how to determine if I need that as well.

BEST ANSWER: I do not think so. All machines will leak some dust despite the best vacuum system you can devise. I make sure to run my air filter ration system when machining wood, and I leave it on for a few hours afterwards once the shop is closed up.
I do sandblasting in a blast cabinet. How well would this work with the blasting dust? I use a shop vac right now. Thank you.
Shaun M on Oct 14, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I can only speak to my more conventional setup in using this filter with the wall-mounted collector as being very effective in saw dust collection for table saw, router table, and miter saw. I suspect your blasting dust is much finer than saw dust and so some might get through the filter. There is a little leakage around the fittings for me, but it is minimal. There would also be the concern of the fine dust getting into the bearings of the dust collector.
Do you also carry those plastic bags? I mean if I'd like to buy more of em

I have a Delta floor/wall mount dust collector with a 5" outlet. Will this work ?
Mike U on Nov 23, 2017
Will this work if i mount it horizontally? I want to mount it in my work bench.
Gabester on Jul 10, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I do not think it will work as designed if it is mounted horizontally. I would think that would result in plugged filters since gravity would be unable to help remove chips. Also, it would defeat the self cleaning feature for the canister.
How does this unit handle larger-than-dust-particles such as wood chunks/chips, screws, nails, etc?
Dugger on Sep 28, 2019
BEST ANSWER: It doesn’t. That is not it’s purpose. This is a canister filter to stop very small dust particles from escaping back into the room. There is a bag mounted to the bottom of it for large particles to fall into. Ideally a separator of some kind - like a cyclone - should be in line before the filter so that only air with the smallest of particles even makes it to the filter in the first place. Such a separator would be where larger particles are caught. Having no separator will shorten the life of the canister filter. It can be cleaned with the hand crank to knock particles into the bag but eventually those larger dust particles will clog the filter and reduce air flow making the entire dust collection system less efficient.
Will this filter fit my central dust collector?
Richard C on Sep 7, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Probably not. Look at this filter diameter, it is 15"- too small. My big dust collector - ShopFox, has diameter around 22", and I think most of them are around that diameter. You will fit your filter in to your dust collector instead of top bag. So look for filter that will fit your dust collector. Mine is DustDog brand, what ever it is.
Do you have to use Rockler bags?
James H on Jan 2, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I've used the delta bags and they work fine. The way the gasket and lock collar work, you could make a lot of different bags fit.
What happens when the filter is exhausted? Is it $199 for a replacement?
Chuck J on Nov 15, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The filter has an internal device for cleaning (use handle to operate) so the filter should operate for a very long time. I assume that it will eventually wear out and would need to be replaced then. But this should not be frequent and I think the cost would be the price of a new one unless they can come up with a way to replace the media only..
How many square feet of filter material does this filter have?
Architeuthis77 on Mar 1, 2017
BEST ANSWER: That is one for the manufacturer.
This has worked well for my small shop, but I did find its limit. Cutting ½ x 1 ½" dados in 8/4 ash for breadboard ends was too much for the unit - the saw ((SawStop Contractor) and air filled with dust. Without the Canister, the Wall mount might have been OK, but I had by then already gotten rid of my collection bag for the wall mount. Up until then, it has taken everything I have dished at it with my table saw, router table, 13" planer and 6" jointer. In the future, I will make cuts like that in smaller bites.
Will this filter work with a 2 HP Harbor Freight DC or will it significantly decrease CFM?
Kevin N on Jan 30, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I put this filter on my 2HP Harbor Freight unit and added a separator. It does decrease CFM but for my small setup it wasn't a big issue. If you have your unit piped throughout your shop or have long runs i wouldn't recommend it.

I have the older style "floor" dust collector, that I have since wall-mounted. Looks to be the same casing and motor - true? Does this work for that model wall mounted?
Matt I on Dec 19, 2017
BEST ANSWER: This should work fine. I have found this filter has to be cleaned often.
I have a shop fox dust collector will it fit . . It's wall mount?
Ronald Z on Apr 15, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I suspect it may not be a direct fit; but if you're ingenious enough I think you should be able to adapt it... need to consider the overall diameter of the Rockler filter before trying anything...
I have model 25344 from Rockler does it fit this too?
