Excellent Product
Nice, quick shaker-style panel door construction. Quick to dial in and smooth, continuous cuts. Made panel door construction a breeze.
Dry fit assembly; grooved channel fits 1/4" Baltic Birch plywood perfectly.
Rails/Stiles are 4/4 Poplar planed to 3/4".

Very smooth
Actually, I was just looking for a slot cutter for a current project. The dimensions of this one fit what I needed perfectly. Very smooth cutter! No sanding or other clean-up needed after cutting the slot.

I have some Cedar boards I sawed out of Hurricane debris branches I could square up and rip on my table saw and I can glue together to make wider boards for some various projects. This will be used with my router and new cast alum. table.

Have some Oak and Hickory lumber that would make some fantastic flooring. So, why not make the flooring now so that this winter I can put it down and put the finish on in the spring.

It takes a while to get used to it. The spacers need switching depending on thickness of stock. You have to continue making changes to find the perfect fit needed.

diagram for stacking tougne and grove bit?
John C on Feb 21, 2017
Is this designed for true 3/4" material or is it designed for 23/32" material and the description uses the nominal dimension?
Ed D on Jun 24, 2015
BEST ANSWER: If you are milling your own stock it's probably designed for 23/32 but most stock is milled fat. It comes with spacers to cut a true 3/4" tongue. Worked great for me.
Is there a set up jig for this bit?
Jeff C on May 10, 2020
BEST ANSWER: Rockler does not make a step jig for this bit set. I will put in a recommendation to do this in the future.
Are the cutters carbide and would they work with locust?
Charlie E on Apr 22, 2020
BEST ANSWER: They are carbide. I am not familiar with working with locust but as Larry noted, take light cuts to start out to make sure the wood does not have much tear out.
Is this router bit safe to use with a hand held router?
Alex B on Dec 5, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I suppose you could hand hold but results would be less than steller. Your entry into cut and exit of cut could be messed up along with groove being less than straight with hand error. Better to use router table with fence to control piece at 90* and get accurate cuts on project. IMHO
what's the max rpm for this bit?
pmcglasson on Feb 1, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I wouldn't go faster than 12,000-16,000 rpm. Faster than that you may end up with a fire on your hands given the confined nature of the cut.
Do you use both ball bearings with the single cutter?

Would this work for making shaker style cabinet doors?
Troy W on Aug 5, 2016
