What size drill bits for pins ?
Jack G on Dec 9, 2017
When replacing a standard nylon louvre pin for the shutter, would it be wise to use a spring loaded pin, or is the spring loaded pin already on the other side?
Steffen M on Oct 12, 2016
BEST ANSWER: These shutter pins are solid plastic. If you could find the pins that are spring loaded, that would be a wise move. I have built a lot of shutters with these pins, however, it would be impossible to change once put together.
Hi please can I use it outside as well? Thank you
Michal M on May 3, 2020
BEST ANSWER: The shutter pins are made from Nylon. Nylon is prone to size changes when exposed to water so might change size enough to make using the louvers more difficult. So I would not recommend them for outdoor use unless protected from rain.
Can you please advise if the 3 1/2" shutters can be made moveable and if so which pin should I use?
Mark B on Jun 23, 2018
BEST ANSWER: the correct pin size for the movable 3 1/2" hinge is #46388
I need to know the thicknes of the circular dounut part of the pin that separates the the louver from the style?
Ricardo G on Apr 7, 2016
BEST ANSWER: It seems to be about a 1/16 of an inch. It's not very thick at all. We have used these on a few shutters and have had no problems at all.
What jib do I need for these pins?
Eric L on Apr 14, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Assuming you meant to ask about a jig, and not a jib (a headsail for sailboats), the jig that Rockler sells for shutters works well for the pins, as well as the rest of the shutter where you have to drill the stiles as well as the louvers.
