Slimline Pro Gel Click Pen Hardware Kit, 24k Gold

Click pens can be hard to come by in the pen turning world, a surprising fact when you consider how convenient they are to operate. The Slimline Pro does everything a good click pen should—it goes from your pocket to the paper with one hand, in one motion with a simple click. In addition to that, it also comes with a premium gel refill, which offers bold lines and smooth, fluid writing performance. Gel refills offer many benefits of both ballpoint and rollerball type refills. Of course, if you prefer, you can install any type of aftermarket Parker style refill. Includes a Gelwriter black ink Parker style refill.

Beautiful and Smooth
This pen has a great feeling in the hand, writes super smooth, and just looks great overall. Working on another one right soon!
Fist pen I made with this kit, the kit paired beautifully with this piece of Cocobolo heart/sapwood.

One of My Favorite Pen Kits
These Slimline Pro pen kits make really nice pens. I have made a bunch of them for myself and as gifts. The size is perfect - not too thin, not too fat. The weight and balance are just right, too. The click mechanism is convenient for one-handed pen operation. I use a Slimline Pro as my "everyday carry" pen at work, where I operate the click mechanism many times a day. It has been 100% reliable. I like the smooth writing of the gel refill, too.

IMPORTANT: Measure the length of your pen blanks carefully with calipers after gluing and milling, but before you mount the blanks on the lathe to turn them. (If your pen mill leaves circular indentations, then file one edge of the circle so you can fit the caliper tips to measure the blank/tube length.) The length of each blank MUST be exactly 2.03 inches = 2+1/32 inches = 51.56 mm. This is how you ensure that the tip extends the perfect length when you click the assembled pen.

Slimline Pen Kit
I just started turning pens and found this kit easy to use. It was complete (no missing parts) and everything fit the way it was supposed to fit.

Great
Can be difficult to assemble at first, but you get the hang of it after about 3 pens. Great step up from just the twist pens and they write wonderfully with the gel ink and the tip.

Slimline "Pro" ballpoint pen kit.
Great kit to build and use but, I wish the outside diameter were smaller, like the standard Slimline.

Because one I ordered from another place was missing a part for a huge special order. I trust Rockler every time, not doing that again.

I have assembled this pen -- however the refill does not come out of the pen tip far enough when depressed. What did I do wrong? What is the fix?
DonnMc on Jan 18, 2016
BEST ANSWER: on the next pen, after gluing the tube into the pen blank the instructions say to trim it back flush to the brass tube but I have better results trimming a little bit deeper using a barrel trimmer, trim back till you see the end of the brass tube clearly with an even thickness all the way around, this should be about 1/64" off of each end on both tubes. now you should be able to put on your mandrel and continue as before this will give you an added 1/16" exposed at the tip when finished - best of luck to you
What size is the lead ??
