An extremely handy addition to any turner's armory, the Sandmaster is used in conjunction with a lathe to put a fine finish on turned pieces. It eliminates the unsightly lines often associated with traditional hand sanding.

As the disc is spinning it also reduces the clogging of the abrasive. The Sandmaster comes complete with a hook-and-loop covered 2" sponge pad which allows for the easy changing of abrasive discs. A variety of grits - from 60 - 400 - of aluminum oxide disc can then be quickly attached.

The adjustable head which runs on a durable phosphor bronze bushing lets the turner reach even the more inaccessible spots. As an optional extra, a 3" head and discs can be easily fitted for greater efficiency. The Sandmaster becomes an even more versatile tool when the head is removed and replaced by a pigtail mandrel and goblet or bowl mop. Made of fine grade cotton these mops are an ideal medium for buffing waxes and other finishes.

Ingenious concept powered by the lathe motor. Accepts other discs designed for hook & loop fixation. Angle adjustment mechanism is firm. It is necessary to lubricate the shaft, and I would use T-9 Boeshield for its dry film qualities.

This SAVES my hands
I never though I needed this. I would use old 5" sanding disks to sand the inside of bowls. After getting "bit" one time too many doing this on a natural edge bowl, my son bought this for me. I will never go back. Now, the most painful part of doing a finish is the easiest. This is the best way to do the inside of bowls. I just wish there was a small electric or air motor at the end as we..

I had my doubts when I...
I had my doubts when I ordered this but it's cut my sanding time by at least 75% with better results ... Works great ... IMHO the biggest drawback is the limited quantity of sandpaper you get with your order.

Happy at first, Disappointed it didn't last
At first I was thrilled with this, but after some use it is wearing out faster than I expected.

The brass bushings are worn now to the point that it wobbles excessively when I try to use it.

Works Good but angle adjustment slips.
The plastic knob does not tighten the swivel joint securely allowing the head to move unexpectedly. This is because the rounded surface of the swivel joint does not make sufficient contact with the knob and flat washer. Also the polished mating surfaces of the two halves of the joint do not provide the required friction to hold the head in place. Otherwise the sander works good.
