Synthetic Finishing Pads, 3-Pack

Coarse and Medium pads are excellent for stripping operations and paint removal. Fine and extra fine pads are great for knocking down raised grain before the first coat of finish, and for removing "nubbies" between coats. Because they're synthetic, they're perfect for water-based finishes where steel wool would cause rust problems. Non-woven technology means they won't shed abrasive crumbs onto the finish. Best of all, they're completely washable; just rinse them out under a tap to renew the abrasive qualities.

Synthetic Finishing Pads
I cut a small piece off larger pad and used it to lightly rub hemp oil on mahogany piece and let it dry for 24 hours! The pads worked well, much better than steel wool! Furniture cleaned up well!

Great Timesavers
I use these to cut down on hassle both for wood prep, and top coating. The coarser grades get me to a point where a little pass with 150-180 grit paper is all that’s needed for staining. If grain raises with a water-based stain, the grey pad, gently used, knocks off the hairy stuff very nicely. Also good for scuffing varnish between coats. The white pad is great for starting the rubbing process on varnish before going crazy with the 1200-12000 grit papers and rotten stone when going for that mirror gloss. These pad save you a fair amount on sandpaper and cleanup time. Love ‘em!!

Finishing pads good for polyurethane
These are very rough Scotch type pads that work really awesome with polyurethane finishing. If you use the scotch pads instead of 240 400 or 800 grit sandpaper it will do a fantastic job

Synthetic Finishing Pads
Synthetic finishing pads work great, last fairly long, and don't leave the residue behind as steel wool does.

I have never gotten anything from Rockler that didn't do what it was supposed to do and this was no different. Good quality and ship time.

These pads are excellent for getting rust off of my machines. I recently used them to refinish a solid brass antique door knocker.

Sanding pads
These sanding pads have long been a favorite of mine. I keep one in a can of wax for easy finding when Some piece needs needs wax or if I've made several of something. The action of rubbing wax on rubs finish nubs off. I have used these for 13years. They are my favorite finishing process. Thanks, Chuck Jacobson ps. I've also given them to other woodworkers.

Smoother finish
I recommend the finishing pads over sandpaper or steel wool. In my experience using the finishing pads results on a smoother finish. I throw them in the washing machine when they start to get clogged and let them air dry.

Why did you choose this?
Rockler Store
Because I needed them and the reviews were good. But I have to say I find your online ordering process very clunky and if you have a promotional code to apply, good luck. I finally gave up and paid full price. Others won't. Considerable drag on the online experience with an otherwise good company to buy from....

Can you use these for finishing on a lathe, or does the heat from the friction melt them?
