My old oak table had been missing half of one of these table leaf locks. I didn’t think I’d ever find a replacement. These were exactly correct and my table is happy. Fair price and fast shipping. Thanks Rockler

Problem Solver
I built a folding table with leaves and had used a doweling jig for alignment pins which were unsucsessful. The leaves were misaligned side to side and were not flush with the fixed table(my fault). my wife suggested the aligners because they came on our dining table. Easy to install once I figured which side of the aligner faces up and the table edges are aligned and the surface is flush!

How easy is it to remove the Leaf for under table storage after installing these Leaf aligners?
Mary T on Jun 19, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Fairly easy. It takes a little bit of muscle, but not much. I used these as a replacement for the standard aligners on a table I refurbished... the previous ones were rusted through, so it was definitely far easier after replacement.
Are there instructions for the best method of installing Table Aligners Item #48840 ?
Mark O on Apr 14, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Remove old aligners from the table. Then, using blocks, clamps, and other tools, get the table edges perfectly aligned in all directions. Then move under the table; insert two aligners together, screw one side and see if you need to washer-shim the opposite side. this will force the table to go back where it meets up.
Can I offset the joining pieces so when the leaf is not installed the piece attached to the table is not protruding?
Tom B on Feb 6, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I'm no expert, but I don't see how you could. I use them as picture hangers, attaching one to the wall, and the other to the frame, then they slide into each other. For joining pieces flush together, as depicted, the 4 prongs have to interlace so they have to protrude beyond the edge of the material they're screwed into. If they're flush, when the two adjoining pieces are aligned, they wouldn't interlace. Instead, you probably need some kind of latch system that would swing back on one piece, with the hook inset on the other. Good luck!
Very tight connection using these type of aligners. Is there a way to lubricate them to make it easier to pull the leaves apart?
Kay D on Dec 7, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Hey Kay D. I installed those aligned on a 9’ table w/leaf but immediately removed them because they were too tight and stuck. I opted for dowel pins with matching holes.

How do I install these?
Andrea B on Jul 8, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Hi Andrea. It was pretty easy. I turned the table upside down an the put the pairs together and then screwed them in place.
I need these to hold table and leaves together. Will it work?
Sue W on Mar 18, 2016
BEST ANSWER: They work well as long as everything is perfectly square, flat, and lined up. Not as well as traditional table leaf locks like the one I attached, but I had a situation where there was no room for these. Also, the aligners take the place of dowels or pins.
