UHMW Plastic Jig Stock-3/8 Inch Thick
Often referred to as the World's Toughest Polymer, Ultra High Molecular Weight (UHMW) Polyethylene is your best material choice for making jigs and fixtures for your table saw, router table, drill press, etc. UHMW is a linear high density polyethylene that's 10x heavier than regular high-density polyethylene giving you a rock-solid base for your jig or fixture. UHMW has a low coefficient of friction and is self-lubricating, making it glide over your work surface with little resistance. Plus, this rugged polymer will last for years, as it is highly resistant to abrasions, chemical-resistant, and maintains its high-impact strength even at low temperatures. Choose 24" long stock in 3/4" or 3/8" thicknesses, or a 48" length in 3/8" thickness. All pieces are 4" wide.

Features:
  • The World's Toughest Polymer
  • Ideal for making jigs and fixtures for your table saw, router table, drill press, and other shop tools
  • Self-lubricating stock has a low coefficient of friction, making it glide over work surfaces
  • High density polyethylene is 10x heavier than regular high-density polyethylene for stability
  • High abrasion resistance and high impact strength even at low temperatures
  • Chemical resistant

Slip,sliding away.
I use this material on the "legs" of stage platforms. I counter bored holes and fastened small piece to the bottom of 2 x 4 legs. The platforms glide with "relative" ease across the stage floor. Not quite the jig application - but they do work.

Good material, but wish it was more rigid
I had assumed that Ultra High molecular weight material would be quite still. Not so. This stuff has a considerable amount of flex. As others have noted, it also warps (although easily straightened). If you need something rigid, go with the 1/2 stock

The UHMW plastic is a perfect choice for the slide out bed in my RV. I'm rebuilding the base and this will make it slide over the carpet much better.

what's the best way to cut the UHMW to length and width? Bandsaw? Table saw? Can I rout it?
chris r on May 11, 2015
BEST ANSWER: This material can be cut or routed with any saws or bit which you would use for cutting wood.
does this have an adhesive on one side?
Von E on Oct 24, 2015
BEST ANSWER: No, it does not. I used double-sided tape temporarily, drilled holes, then removed tape before joining with screws.
can you use this material for making a zero clearance table saw plate ????
Dennis I on Mar 26, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Every tablesaw is different but the material is easily worked with woodworking tools. It would be good to measure the thickness of your present insert and see if there is room for adjustment with setscrews.
can I use glue to glue it to the bottom of a slide in a rv so that it slides over hardwood floors? Will it come off under use? Can't really screw it on..Would double sided tape work
Federico C on Apr 29, 2016
BEST ANSWER: This stuff does not hold glue very well. I use a 220 sandpaper to rough up the glued surfaces, but it still came apart pretty easily.
I have a 1999 four winds motor home which has something like this product (this is the closest I see on line) on bottom part of tilt or slide out. The old stuff has broken - was screwed and adhesived to bottom and it then slides out on the carpet. Would this work for my intended purpose?
