Great for turning at the lathe, sharpening at the bench grinder, or wherever safety glasses alone don't provide adequate protection.

Uvex Bionic Face Shield with Anti-Fog Coating

Item #
54087
Rating:
96% of 100

With its full-face wraparound coverage and replaceable polycarbonate lens, the Bionic Face Shield provides excellent secondary protection when safety glasses or goggles alone are inadequate. Use it to deflect chips and shavings while turning on the lathe, to deflect sparks when sharpening or grinding and wherever there is risk of liquids or sprays splashing behind your eyewear. The shield is rugged, yet extremely lightweight and highly adjustable for all-day comfort. Simply press in the ratcheting knob and turn to fit the headband to your head. In addition to the circumference, the height is also adjustable and the face shield can be adjusted in and out in relation to your face. Tilt it up and out of the way for easy conversation, or to take a breather.

Features:

  • Lightweight and comfortable for extended use
  • Full shield design extends under the chin and well over the forehead
  • Excellent optics for optimum visibility
  • Flips up when not needed for easy conversation
  • Ratcheting knob adjustment ensures a comfortable, secure fit
  • Foam-padded headstrap is breathable, removable and washable
  • Adjustable visor can be moved nearer or farther from face
  • Clear polycarbonate lens with anti-fog/hard coat is easily replaceable when needed
  • Fits comfortably with most goggles and respirators; 100% dielectric (no metal parts)
  • Meets ANSI Z87+ (High Impact) and tested by Honeywell to meet the requirements of the CSA Z94.3 standard
  • Face shields offer secondary protection only; must be worn with safety eyewear or goggles.

Finally
I was doing some work that produced serious piles of sawdust. My standard face mask and glasses would not work. Flying dust worked it was under the glasses. I resorted to a rag wrapped around my head and halfway up on the safety glasses. Not a good solution. But this face shield was the perfect answer. I can breath. It’s not right up against my big nose and it wraps my face enough to do its job without making me feel claustrophobic.

Best face shield ever.
We have used all the other types of face shields and never really liked any of them. I run a small shop where we do metal and wood. This unit is very comfortable and works well in both environments.

Superior Shield
I normally use a shield for rough turning then take it off for detail work, sanding then finishing. This one was so comfortable i forgot i had it on until i was getting ready to leave the shop.

Liked the fact that it provides the best eye protection while allowing you to see your work. Am really hoping it will fit tight with my glasses as that is another reason - ability to wear my glasses and have excellent eye protection.

I wear prescription glasses..... Can I use this without my glasses getting in the way?
Randy P on Nov 8, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes - more than enough room for eye glasses, a beard and moustache and a greek nose! (I only have glasses and the nose). And...the anti-fog coating is really a big help here in Florida where humidity stays around a gabillion percent.
Can this be worn with over-the-ear hearing protection ear muffs?
Gino L on Aug 6, 2019
BEST ANSWER: They would interfere with shield. When wearing the shield and needing ear protection I use the sponge style hearing protection that is actually inside your ear.
can it be used to blow insulation in an attic ?
alan y on Apr 20, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I dont know how you can use it to blow insulation in an attic. But if you mean, can it help you be protected from the insulation that is being blown in an attic, then I would say no. It is not sealed around your face in any way.
