Create a cribbage board 2-3 times larger than usual with our XL Cribbage Templates. This larger, more spacious layout accepts our 1/4'' XL Deluxe Cribbage Pegs (#58662, sold separately). Just select the wood species of your choice and attach the template to one end with Double-Sided Turner's Tape (#25801, sold separately). Once the first set of holes is drilled, use the indexing pins to ''daisy chain'' your way down the board. The templates are transparent for easy alignment and are made of durable acrylic to protect your game boards during the drilling process. Available in 2-Player and 3-Player versions, both with a curved track. Each kit includes a 1/4'' Self-Centering Drill Bit and indexing pins.

Outstanding customer service
Even though I had an issue with one of the dimensions on the plan, Rockler listened and Jim in customer service went above and beyond to correct the issue. The 5 stars are to Rockler and the way that they stand behind the product. It really cemented my loyalty to Rockler.

Clever idea
This product is fairly easy to understand and use, but the play in the self centering bit makes for a sloppy looking finished product. I personally would not buy a wood cribbage board at an art fair or store if the holes were poorly aligned. I would say that there is 3/32 play side to side. It does, however, make layout much easier than rulers and grid patterns in pencil or knife marks.

Xl cribbage board template
I followed the instructions to a T and found that they were wrong. The instructions that come with the template state " cut the boards to 22 3/4 inches " which is 3 inches too short. Now I have a stack of quilted maple that I wasted time and plenty of money on.
The self centering bit will clog and spin then burn into the template if not continuously cleared of sawdust.
It should read 25 3/4, not 22 3/4.

Response from Rockler
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. In the printed instructions labeled Rev. 3/18 the minimum dimensions for the board were incorrectly stated as 6 5/8" x 22 3/4". The correct dimensions are 6 5/8" x 25 3/4" as shown in the December 2018 Instructions. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Floppy and shallow
This product, like most of Rockler's name brand stuff is a good idea that consistently misses the mark. While the concept is good, the executions fails. The self centering drill bit doesn't drill a deep enough hole for their proprietary 1/4" over-priced pegs (that aren't a 1/4" ) to fit properly into the holes that you spent all your time and effort on carefully drilling. The depth stop on the fancy drill bit only drills a 1/4" deep hole. The peg isn't a 1/4" in diameter until you are 9/16" on the peg. My math says that's a 5/16 inch discrepancy. The depth stop should have been made 9/16-5/8" deep. There is no way to adjust the drill stop. That is a fail. Now that's 259 holes that have to be re-drilled to the proper depth so that your carefully crafted game board doesn't look like the pegs are staggering drunk while playing. Thanks rockler, that's 518 holes to re-drill now.

how do i us the template ?

BEST ANSWER: Cut wood blank to size. Clamp or double side tape the square piece to th wood with 2 index holes toward the center of blank. Use drill to drill out alignment holes. Remove clamp or tape . Inslall pins in alignment holes to secure to blank. Drill out remaining holes.move blank so that last set of holes overlay alignment holes already drilled a drill alignment holes again. Move pins to new alignment holes and drill out remainder of holes. Repeat till near end and then use rounded template.
