Rockler 1-1/16" Diameter X 3/4" High Drawer Lock Bit

Increases gluing surface and provides a strong, mechanical locking action for drawer box corner joints.

This unique bit is similar to a locking rabbet bit, but it cuts two tongues instead of one for added mechanical strength and additional gluing surface. The wedged profile of the tongues helps everything snug up under clamping pressure, while still exposing valuable long grain gluing surface. To machine your parts, run the drawer fronts flat on the router table and the sides vertically against your fence. 1/4" shank.

Very Nice Bit
I purchased this bit at the Pasadena, CA store, where the sales people are wonderful. I needed to replace 13 drawers in my kitchen that were falling apart. Built up a router table out of scrap aluminum, and the bit cut flawlessly with very little setup. This bit has a 1/4" shaft (last one in the store), because I used it on my laminate router.

The bit is great, but to me more important was the outstanding level of customer service. My issue was resolved in a professional and quick manner. I will definitely continue to order from Rockler.

Usable drawer lock
While this cutter works well, the interlocking fit is not as tight as I would prefer.

Drawer-lock bit
I was impressed with the drawer-lock bit, but it has a drawback. If you use it on the rear of the drawer and slide in the bottom, the side drawer sides do not go all the way to the back of the drawer. This makes it a little difficult to start the drawer in the cabinet.

I purchased this bit to build drawers for a four drawer all oak tool box. I am very pleased with the excelent job that it did. It was easy to set up and produced good tight joints.

The router bit itself is OK, but the setup jig is completely worthless. This setup jig is apparently only for 3/4" (front) stock joined to 5x8" (side). In my setup with 1/2" sides, it is competely wrong. That being said, without the jig, it takes a LOT of trial and error to get the setup just right. Once I had it right, I just made my own jig out of a piece of MDF.

The bit itself is a fine bit. The setup is another matter it took me 10 hours to get it right. Instructions would have help a great deal. I bought the setup jig thinking it would help, a complete waste of money. I have bought many products from Rockler this is the first time I have been extremely disappointed.
