This is a great value. It works better than I was expecting. I have actually just ordered another set for my other bench. These come in very handy and I find more uses for them everyday.

Just finishing my woodworking bench. Already have a couple of bench clamps. This is a well-priced addition.

I built a woodworker’s workbench and wanted to pick up a starter kit. The mesh mat is not interesting, but the hold down clamps are reasonably priced, making the four plastic bench dogs basically free.

I have customized bench dogs in the past with my high school students. The time, cost and effort it takes to make these products I felt that I could not match their price. As a retired Vocational instructor, It gave me great pleasure to make a difference in our community and the safety in the lives of my students by introducing these safety practices. For your readers, protecting yourself, friends and families in the shop is paramount. This will be a fantastic investment. <br />Thanks, Ray

what size hole do you drill for a 11/16"X8"X3.12" bench hold down?
Harvey S on May 26, 2015
BEST ANSWER: You need a hole that is 3/4"
hat MATERIAL are the bench dogs m,aDE OF?w
lyle c on Apr 15, 2018
BEST ANSWER: The dogs are some kind of strong plastic , I can’t break them.
I drilled a 3/4" hole in my bench top and when I hit the hold fasts it just bounces around and does not stick tight. Is this user error?
chris p on Feb 28, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Your bench top may be too thin. I glued and screwed a 2” x 2” piece of wood under my bench where I wanted the holes. Works fine.
Do hold down clamps work with an MDF workbench table top?
Everett M on May 24, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Everett,
For best strength I'd suggest a hardwood bench top when using hold downs. There is a lot of torque on the sides of the hole and the MDF isn't designed for this type of stress since it is made from fine chips and dust.

John
what diameter hole do I need to drill for bench dogs
bob l on Feb 22, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I drilled my holes with a 3/4 " bit. I already had holes so I made a template to enlarge the holes from 1/2" to 3/4". They fit fine.
I ordered the the hold down and it fits loosely in my bench holes (3/4"). I have a 2 x 4 laminated workbench that is 3.5" thick. Why does it fit so loosely?
Andrade on Mar 16, 2019
BEST ANSWER: My bench is the same thickness. I us a wooden mallet to slam it down. You might have something below the bench top that is preventing the hold down from going all the way down to lock the piece your going to
plane or otherwise work on. These things work really good!
