Nice little add-on for the workbench...
The router mat works great and the little bench dogs well they're just bench dogs they're fine but I am a little concerned about the cast iron hold down I guess I just won't hit too hard but so far it works fine... Happy all around with the product and shipping...

Good value for the dollar. The only thing I do not like is the blue paint comes off the clamps on to the wood and bench

Hold fasts are just right
I didn't need a very large hold fast, and these two will work just fine for the limited woodworking I do.

great set!
I just finished my first woodworking bench a couple of months ago, and this was my first experience using holdfasts in dog holes. I absolutely love using these things, and had no problems whatsoever.

To add to my bench accessories, would have preferred a longer reach for the hold downs, however they 4 1/2" reach should meet my needs.

Prefer bench dogs with a flat face to hold boards. Holdfasts will be handy when using boards longer than the workbench. Clamp it with side vise and rest the board on holdfast in the leg.

hat MATERIAL are the bench dogs m,aDE OF?w
lyle c on Apr 15, 2018
BEST ANSWER: The dogs are some kind of strong plastic , I can’t break them.
I drilled a 3/4" hole in my bench top and when I hit the hold fasts it just bounces around and does not stick tight. Is this user error?
chris p on Feb 28, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Your bench top may be too thin. I glued and screwed a 2” x 2” piece of wood under my bench where I wanted the holes. Works fine.
Do hold down clamps work with an MDF workbench table top?
Everett M on May 24, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Everett,
For best strength I'd suggest a hardwood bench top when using hold downs. There is a lot of torque on the sides of the hole and the MDF isn't designed for this type of stress since it is made from fine chips and dust.

John
what diameter hole do I need to drill for bench dogs
bob l on Feb 22, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I drilled my holes with a 3/4 " bit. I already had holes so I made a template to enlarge the holes from 1/2" to 3/4". They fit fine.
