Solid Marking Pencil
Works as expected. Solid, thick line. Easy to hold in your hand. Not too big or too small. Would recommend to a friend.

Best tool in my apron!
In the home remodeling business you constantly need a sharp pencil for accurate trim work. Over the years I have tried almost every marking device I could find. Used to use #3 pencils, but they are now hard to find.
When Rockler advertised the Cabinetmaker's Pencil set I thought "I will give it a try". Well I am totally satisfied. I highly recommend this set for all you finish carpenters and cabinetmakers. Especially since you get extra lead and a pocket size sharpener to boot. Thanks Rockler!

Excellent additional to my tool belt.
I’ve been waiting for a mechanical pencil that would stand up to wood working pressure. This is a very good product.

Great tool
I've used 2.0 pencils over 40 years.I am a graphic designer and a woodworker. I keep one in my pocket. They're always same balance and length, the lead can be used right up to about 1/4" and they always feel right. You can extend the lead into templates, in small holes, etc. This set includes a dozen leads.
You can extend the lead out a little and use for shading or point .
Best if you have a good sharpener, though.

Charles H on Apr 16, 2017
Too much lead wasted as the length of the unit is used since the pencil does not hold it in place when you have 1/2" left.
manuel g on Mar 24, 2017
Because I own the pencil and needed more lead

Frederick J on Feb 12, 2017
Been using them for years. I have found the sharpeners and erasers were out about the same time I'm out of lead. More cost effective to purchase the set than hunt for 2mm lead.
David O on Feb 10, 2017
lost mine and I love it
Ricardo C on Jan 26, 2017
Nice working pencil comes with a small eraser and a sharpener.
GRANVILLE Q on Jan 20, 2017
For use to mark wood for cutting and for making sketch-ups that can be easily corrected.
Ronald S on Jan 5, 2017
For an INCRA precision marking ruler. Read that lead breaking is an issue, this uses a 2 mm lead, which is huge for a mechanical pencil, AND you can sharpen it to a fine point with a built-in sharpener.
Jared R on Jan 5, 2017
I would not buy this pencil. Hard to sharpen lead.
Marcos I on Dec 30, 2016
It's worked great for me so far. The reviews that I have read say not to drop it, so I take extra care with it. If that's not your style, then I wouldn't recommend it.
JASON S on Dec 24, 2016
I was tired of sharpening those flat carpenter's pencils. This works a lot better.

Size and durability. The pencil and sharpener work great; however, they break beyond repair if they are dropped from table height onto a concrete floor.

my pencil also broke when dropped. tip came off. does rockler replace these? any warranty?
MARK R on May 25, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I had the same problem and it happened on my first use. I would think it is a design weakness as it certainly has never happened with any of the other mechanical pencils I have used over many years. I never took it in to see because I thought it was own fault. Having read other people have had the same problem, I wonder if I should have at least attempted to get it replaced.
I swear I'm not an idiot but I can't figure out how to change the lead, how do you put in a new lead?
Dan H on Apr 21, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Push down on button on pencil end and hold while you slide lead in the end of pencil.
Is the pencil core graphite or lead?
Legobuildshq on May 9, 2017
BEST ANSWER: it is standard pencil graphit
Anyone know where to find erasers to fit this?
Matthew W on May 6, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I just bought magic erasers and nut them down to fit
how do you replace the lead in the pencil ?
Bill F on Nov 14, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Fully depress the top button, pull old short piece out, insert new lead all the way into the pencil, let up on the button... DONE!

Very Simple and FAST... No PAIN or STRAIN!
Great pencil, but where can I find lead replacements? It would be better if we could purchase the same lead package from Rockler.
Todd B on Apr 22, 2015
BEST ANSWER: This uses lead that is 2mm diameter. This can be obtained at office supply or art supply sources.
Where is the sharpener?
A shopper on Jun 23, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The little part that has the erase has pull-off cover at the other end from the eraser... There is a hole there... Insert lead into hole and twist it to sharpen the point!

You MAY have to push the pencil top-button a little to get a longer length for the sharpener to do a good job.
I believe lead poisonous. Is it?
Legobuildshq on May 9, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Pencil leads are usually a mixture of graphite and clay (and perhaps some other binder?), and do not contain actual lead. I'm guessing that the term "lead" is a holdover from a time when one might have actually used the soft metal lead as a way to make marks.
How the lead pencil goes together?
Todd S on May 9, 2018
BEST ANSWER: It is basically a draftsman’s lead holder—insert the lead into the end and advance the lead as needed. To have a ‘FINE’ point you need to “sharpen the lead with the provided sharpener occasionally.
I love this pencil, however the sharpener has gone mute. I need a replacement. Any thoughts where I might find one without buying another pencil?
Dutch on Jun 14, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Extend lead and use sandpaper
