This seam ripper quickly cuts through the stitches on sewing projects that need to be disassembled for alteration or repair. The two blades are made from sharp, durable manganese steel, and are easily reversible for storage inside the handle. The large seam ripper is for coarser stitches, while the small seam ripper is for finer stitches. Choose your own turning blank and shape for a fully custom look. Use an 8mm drill bit and mandrel (sold separately). Durable chrome finish.

Not Just For Woodworkers!
Absolutely love my dual ended stilleto and seam ripper tool. I am not a woodworker but rather a bead artist. I created tubes of Peyote Bead Stitching and slipped them on. The ladies in my bead group loved it. Prepare yourself for orders from a new source! I wish I could show you a picture!

Wonderful project for a great tool
Made 6 of these for a client for them to hand out as gifts. Everyone loved them! During assembly, be careful not to bend the spring, insert it until it stops, then use the ripper piece to push it in the rest of the way. ( sharp end into tube of course)
A few of the ones I made

Great gift
This was my first turning project for a “gift.” My wife was thrilled. The kit was exactly what I had hoped it would be.

Fun and easy project
Got an inquiry asking for a seam ripper... what is that? Now I've made 9 and am ordering more, who knew... Quilters love them and say that they are stronger than store bought rippers. I use pen blanks and leave the center square so they don't roll off the table so easily.

Seam Rippers
A quick and easy project that uses up some of those small pieces that you have been saving. Will also work well with pen blanks like the Cocobolo or the Spectra Ply.
A suggestion when turning these is to leave the "finger bump" wider at one end than the other. That wide end will then be used for the large sized ripper. (Just saves the user guessing which end is which).

Im a quilter and had purchased a seam ripper from a woodworker. It fell on the floor and broke off the tip. I would rather have purchased only the seam ripper insert but that was not an option. Please consider making the seam ripper replacement as an option. I’ll be throwing the other pieces away. Seams like a waste but the handle I purchased from the woodworker is beautiful and I want to continue to use it.

A replacement. I have dropped the seam ripper and the long point broke. I want to replace it and hope that these will fit the lovely wooden handle. Also, I was surprised that your checkout program charges taxes on shipping.

Where can I get the spring that holds the ripper in the base?
Larry B on Mar 19, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Great question, as I bent them in the process of inserting them myself. I would start with the company with which you purchased them. If they can refer you to their source you may have an option to purchase extra from them, just a thought. I’d speak with Rockler customer service. It is Their vendor from which they purchase them. It would be great PR if they could intercede for you! Hope this Helps
where can I purchase the handles for making dual seam rippers without turning them myself?
Dyrice G on Jul 18, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I do not know of any place that would carry a handle that fits this kit. The kit is design for woodworkers to turn the handle. I have made a few of these for sewing professionals and students. If you do not know anyone with a lathe try a local high school or trade school.
Where do I get an 8mm mandrel?
John G on Sep 16, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Hi John you can use your 7mm mandrel with a bushing set. You should be able to find the turning instruction for your kit on line. In that you will find the recommended bushing set part number. Hope this helps. Tom T.
Do you sell just the dual stiletto parts? I purchased the seam ripper a few years ago from a vendor. I broke one of the rippers and have been looking for a replacement. My name is Debbie Kirschenmann. Thank you for your time.
Debbie K on May 13, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I purchased replacements parts for my seam ripper and found they fit well and restored my beautiful piece so it can be used again. Go for it!
