Freud 6" Professional Dado Set (SD206)

Item #
21662
Rating:
98% of 100

Freud's quality and craftsmanship in a stacked dado set. The negative hook angles make flat bottom grooves and virtually splinter-free cuts. It has two outside blades with three two wing chippers. This makes it ideal for underpowered saws because it requires less power to feed.

Freud's stacked dado set allows you to obtain a perfect fit on shelving, joints, tongue and groove, and more. May be used with most 10" table and radial arm saws. This resharpenable set will produce grooves from 1/4" to 7/8" in 1/16" increments. All blades and chippers come with Freud's antikickback design. This dado set comes with a shim set and carrying case as well as instructions on how to make basic dado sizes.

Best Dado blade I’ve owned.
Nice clean cuts even the spacers. Would definitely recommend this dado blade to anyone. Over 350 cuts and it is still cutting cleanly.

Product is great and a big plus from my old wobble dado. The instructions were skimpy for someone who had never used a stacked dado set before. Looked at a number of online videos and finally called the Rockler help desk. They helped me understand the setup and it’s worked great since.

Happy with my Freud Dado Set
I have had several dado sets in my woodworking experience. This is by far the nicest I have owed. The cuts are clean and have smooth bottoms. The supplied shim set allows fine tuning the dado width precise. The carry case is an added benefit for protecting and storing the blades.

For to make Dados. I don't believe the dial set will fit on my table saw and can't justify the expense even if it did for the number of times I think I would use it. I know, I know...

I am making drawers and custom trim. For straight cuts, I find these much easier to use then setting up a router.

Does this set come with spacers to make the 3/4 cut and work on and old 10" table saw with 5/8 arbor with max 13/16 space?
Sawdustmaker on Mar 28, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I use mine on an Ridgid R4510 table saw with no problems. It uses a 5/8 arbor. this set can go up to 13/16. excellent set.
I have a Craftsman 10inch table saw. Will this fit ? And what is the real difference between a 6 and 8 inch dado? Does it really make a difference?
John M on Jan 19, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I'm not sure about fitting on your table saw. I would think so, depending on your arbor length. You could probably find this info in your manual (which, if it's old, you might have to dig for online or something). The difference is cut depth and strain on the saw, I would say. I have the 6 inch and it's less stress on the saw, running it, but it won't make as deep a cut, obviously. I'd say you can still do a 2" deep dado, or so, though, which is pretty deep. I haven't run into an issue with the depth.
I bought a new Ridgid R4514 table saw. The guide says to use 6" dado blades for this saw and the dado speed should not exceed the max saw guidelines. (?) Will the SD206 set work for this saw? The arbor length of 5/8" is right.
Gary E on Feb 24, 2020
BEST ANSWER: This saw is supposed to handle a 6" dado set, up to 3/4" width.
I have purchased this Freud Dado set but the 1\16 chipper was not included. Does it not come with the set? or is it possible to purchase it separately?
Robin B on Feb 17, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I have several sets but I cannot remember if that was included. I do know that some of my cuts are on the 16th but that may be accomplished by using spacers between the eighth and cutters
What is the max RPM?
James L on Oct 31, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I THINK it says 11,000 RPM on the blade - however, that part is where the flange sits and it's been rubbed off. I run mine in a Delta tablesaw around 3500 and haven't ever experienced any issues. Makes sense that, with the smaller circumference, it'd run well faster than most standard table saws.
