Simple and stylish. Easy to inset with a home made jig. I used it on a pistol case I made from mahagany and the clean brass gave the box a professional finished look.

Excellent. I wasn't prepared for the pin type holding piece but it worked out well and was very easy to install.I was particularly impressed with your rapid response to my order, I think I had it in my hand in three days.

Half Mortise Lock
I received the first order and the key wasn't drilled properly to fit the lock. Rockler customer service promptly replaced my order and the lock assembly worked fine.

Great lock but missing installation hardware.
This lock is great for a small box. Looks good and functions properly. However it did not come with any hardware to install it, so I ended up having to run around and find screws and pins for it.

Average small box lock
Latch seems overpriced, came with no screws or installation instructions and lock pin installation left little room for error. The true test will be how it stands up to daily use.

Expensive and flimsy
The lock I bought was to replace a similar lock that lasted about 5 years. I found it rather flimsy , did not work smoothly and was rather expensive. I would never have kept the lock if it had not been a replacement part. I don't expect it to last very long.

lock was ok but was unhappy that the lid latch that came with the lock was not the one pictured with it. I specifically ordered that lock for the pin type latch but it came with a bent strap metal latch that requires 2 tiny ineffective screws to mount it rather than a single hole for the pin type latch

Is the key plated metal or solid brass? Are replacements available?

Can you indicate the dimensions of the lock on the picture or a drawing? I need to know the thickness of the lock body, Is it 1/4"?
Edmundo V on Oct 16, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes 1/4"
how to install the small pin ?
vinc r on Oct 18, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The way I installed the pin is first insert it in the lock mechanism and turn the key to lock it in place. Make sure the pin is straight up right. Then lower the lid using light pressure to mark the pin position. Raise the lid and drill a 1/16 starter hole about half the depth of the pin. Apply epoxy glue (5 minute epoxy works well) to the pin then lightly tap the pin into the hole. Let it set and your good to go!

What is the Distance from face to center of key peg, I need to use in a retrofit application?
Donald M on Jan 23, 2017
Lowering the lid with pin in place in lock to make mark for pin installation doesn't seem to work because lid is at angle from closing, just wondering if any body had any another suggestions ?
Kevin C on Mar 23, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Use a small piece of double faced tape on the pin and close the lid. The pin will line up perfectly for marking and installing.
