Brusso hinges are the best.
Brusso hinges are the best I have found yet. They are solid, the finish is excellent and there is minimal gap (about .010 - .020) between the leaves when closed and parallel.

Excellent screws
Excellent hinges. I have been a wood-worker for 30 years and these are the best changes I've ever used. A word about the screws. Brass screws are inherently soft and there's no getting around that. I appreciate that they include a steel screw to set the hole. I kind of wish they had included 2 because I had a hard time getting through 8 holes without stripping the head of the steel screw in zebra wood. A 1/16th drill bit works perfect. Drill the hole, put in the steel screw, take it out and put in the brass screw. Excellent hinges. Also they stop exactly where they should. Some hinge manufacturers advertise 95?and you don't get 95'.

Beautiful and very strong. I highly recommend them. You also need to have the jigs to install them.
The hinges look great. It is almost mandatory to have the jigs to install them.

Good Hinges
Used these hinges for a small box project and thought they worked perfectly. Really like that included with these hinges was a steel screw to create threads before the softer brass screws installed. Also, included were two extra brass screws. Nice touch. Had to wait a while because Rockler oversold these hinges. But these hinges are not cheap but I think they are worth the cost.

does the hingewith curved shape go on the box or on the lid?
gary s on Jul 18, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I place it so it goes on the lid, but it is a matter of preference
What is the load rating for these hinges?
Ammar K on Feb 11, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I don't know. I used them on a jewelry box that was 8* by 15*.
I would like to use these hinges on a box I am designing. Part of what attracts me to them is the 95 degree stop.

While the lid of the box is solid hardwood (16” wide by 12” deep), the back of the box is 3/4” plywood. So, one leaf of the hinge would need to be attached to the edge of the plywood back.

Will this work? My concern is that screwing the hinge into the “end grain” of the plywood will not be strong enough and the hinge will eventually fail (pull out of the back).
paul t on Aug 24, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Paul - Your concern is valid and you might want to consider adding a strip of hard wood into the back of the box to provide more support for the screw threads, or cementing the screws during installation. Not seeing your actual box construction, the stage of completion or type of finish its difficult to be more specific. Good Luck!
Is the stop-hinge 1-1/4"x 1/2" an appropriate sized for wall-hung jewelry box door 13"x19"?
Jude C on Jan 13, 2019
BEST ANSWER: It depends on the weight of the door. These are very strong and solid hinges. So these half inch wide hinges could handle a three-quarter inch thick MDF that is 13 x 19" door with no problem. If you want extra security, by three-quarter inch wide by 1 1/4 inch long. I doubt that would ever break. I've never had a Brusso hinge break, either a knife hinge or regular hinge.I think you're fine with the size that you've chosen., Rod
What is the minimum thickness of the box side that these hinges will work on? My project is 3/8" thick.
William C on Apr 13, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Have purchased many of these over the last 3 years. Very satisfied with their performance - not so much with the cost. I use them in reproduction 1800 music cases where the wood is 0.345 " thick. On heavy cases I use a 1" wide strip of wood to strengthen the edge where the hinges and lock attach. Pre drill the screw holes and wax the threads. The brass screws that come with twist off their heads easily.Hope this helps. Steve S - Iowa
Is there such a thing as a stop hinge that goes on the outside of the box?

what is the minimum thickness of the lid that will accommodate the mortise and screws?
Alan on Sep 18, 2015
BEST ANSWER: half inch
