Jewery box catch
I was skeptical and hesitant to buy these due to high cost and the fact that they must be glued in some fashion into the routed out slot in the box. BUT, I used epoxy after careful routing to get correct size of slot. THEY actually work and are a sophisticated way to put flush catches in a nice box. I like them and they are well made and nicely finished.

Outstanding box catch
This is a finely machined, high quality latch. It has a very satisfying open and closing mechanism and looks fantastic. This is mortised into your box so you may want to consider the ready made jig that Brusso offers (not available through Rockler) although I made my own without much difficulty. The catch is then epoxied into the mortise. This is a really superb (if expensive) item, for what it is, and you can't go wrong with Brusso.

Simple shop made jig for placing and mortising the catch into place.

Why did you choose this?
Rockler Store
I got two of them for very special small boxes. They really look great, very solid.

Very well made and very attractive. A little tough to put in, but worth it.

This is kind of hard to use with a heavier top. It does not leave much of a gripping point to open with. May need to install something to use with a second hand to open with.

What are the dimensions?

BEST ANSWER: I can't tell if this is the small or large Brusso latch. Here is my suggestion, go to Brussos web site. Click on the product called latches, select the latch you have and on that page there is a tool bar that says drawings and one that says instation instructions. The drawing has all the dimensions. I recommend you purchase the Brusso template to match the latch you have. It's a perfect fit. I hope this has been helpful. Ed Rizzardi
