Felt is better than velvet
Felt does not stretch as much as velvet during application causing size being larger than desired measure.

Used this to line a dresser caddy and it was much better than buying felt at a craft store and gluing it in. I would like the adhesive to be just a bit less aggressive but it'll do.

Woodworking Experience:
easy to use, but un forgiving
The felt is easy to use and looks good, but when installing in the bottom of a small box, you better get it right the first time, because it doesn't unstick to correct the position.

Is this felt the same as your old felt without the self-adhesive?
Stanley A on Dec 2, 2015
BEST ANSWER: No, its thinner but the adhesive layer makes it as thick. i worry the felt will wear through to the adhesive layer.
I am considering this for a Gerstner tool chest. How similar is it to Gerstner felt. Has anyone tried to remove it ..... how hard is that ? (Gerstner original is held on with animal glue which easily melts off with warm water on the felt )
tim d on Nov 2, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The old felt comes out really easily. A light, light sanding removes residual glue or use a razor blade to take out small nubs left behind. I did a Gerstner seven drawer with this product and was satisfied. You need four full sheets for the seven drawer machinist chest to line everything. You must be very careful to template your cuts ahead of time so as not to waste felt. The drawers are 6& 3/8th deep which means a 12 inch piece is a little short for two. I cut them in half & pieced a scrap wedge of extra material in the back. It was either that or use almost twice as much felt. I wish they offered a larger single felt piece.
