Rockler Compact Router Ellipse and Circle Jig

Item #
78% of 100

Woodworkers who tend toward smaller projects will love our Rockler Compact Router Ellipse and Circle Jig. It features all of the easy smooth-sliding functionality of its bigger brother (#27712, sold separately), but is used with a lightweight, easy-to-maneuver compact plunge router. Ideal for cutting out the shape of small signs, tabletops and frames, it can cut ellipses from as small as 6'' x 11'' to as large as 19'' x 24'', and circles from 6'' to 24'' in diameter. Set up takes only a couple of minutes and using the jig is just as easy. As you move the router through the cut, the jig's sliding dovetail mechanism keeps the router precisely on the cut line.

  • Made from durable, smooth-sliding phenolic
  • Fits Porter-Cable, Dewalt and Bosch Compact Plunge Routers (#41770 and #41462, sold separately)
  • Setup is easy following the setup diagrams printed directly on the jig
  • Sliding dovetail ways ensure accuracy and ease-of-use

Woodworking Experience:
I by most of my tools and accessories from Rockler. I have never been disappointed.
I used it for the first time last week and it works great. I make a lot of lazy Susans of very sizes and this really reduces my time and I get a perfect circle. I will be cutting more this weekend and the customers are astounded at the results.

Woodworking Experience:
I would NOT recommend it to anyone, unless Rocker should include the additional larger ellipse guide! I hope Rockler reads this!
It is difficult to believe it could make an ellipse as large as 19" x 24" (minor x major axis) with a peanut guide. It should include the larger base #38410 at no extra cost, which I believe would be a much more realistic deal. 1 star only! To cut a larger ellipse greater than 6"x11", would require a long trial and error process.

Woodworking Experience:
Worked as advertised altho. . .
I purchased this to make a fixture. It worked fine for a circle. I used a 1/4" spiral bit on 3/4" 'baltic birch' plywood. The web site stated 1/2" as maximum thickness. That may depend on the wood being cut. Have not done an elliptical cut yet.

I have been waiting for a compact size jig so to be able to cut smaller projects. THANK YOU!!!
Lamont H on Nov 17, 2015
It makes smaller ellipses. The one major downside to this jig is that I will have to make an adapter to use it with a full size router since I don't own a compact router..

DaveW on Jan 30, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I used double sided tape and it worked

UFgator on Nov 28, 2017

Will this work with a BOSCH 1613evs router?
Gary J on Jan 9, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Although, not having that router, I don't know, but I would think that it world work with any standard base router. Give Rockler a call; they should be able to tell you.
will this fit a PC 6902 or a Bosch 1611?
John David S on May 25, 2017
BEST ANSWER: This item is for compact routers and will not work with the 1611 or the 6902.
We have a larger model, item #27712 which will work with larger routers
Can you screw the base on the back side of wood & cut so the finished eclipse/circle won't show holes on the front? (I make signs)
Karen D on Mar 9, 2016
BEST ANSWER: That's a great idea. I can't see why it wouldn't. But then you only have one shot. Or, you could make a template out of 1/2 or 3/4" mdf, attach that template to your wood using double sided tape, ( Fastcap makes an excellent thin double sided tape), and then cut out the shape with a top mount bearing straight pattern bit.
Will this jig fit my craftsman 1-3/4 hp plunge router base?
pahoo on Feb 3, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I have two different Craftsmen routers. Neither of which are yseable with the referenced jig. I have to get a different router myself
Will this work with the Rigid R2401?
Troy R on Jul 31, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The instructions list the trim routers it will work with; the Rigid is not one of them. If the mounting holes for the Rigid match the mounting holes provided, it should work. Another option would be to drill mounting holes for the Rigid. HTH
Will it fit my Makita RP2301FC and my Bosch PR20EVS (Colt palm router) with the PRO11 plunge base?
Merrill B on Jan 3, 2016
