Rockler Junior Gentleman I Fountain Pen Hardware Kit, Gold

Enjoy ultra-smooth lines and minimal hand fatigue with our classy, comfortable fountain pen.

When it comes to writing comfort, few pens can compete with the traditional fountain pen. Because the weight of the pen alone is enough to get the ink to flow, there is no need to press, resulting in far less hand fatigue. Fountain pens are also very long lasting, since only the ink need be replaced, and a wide variety of ink colors are available to suit just about any occasion. Our Junior Gentleman I kit makes an excellent introduction to fountain pens, combining style with functionality. The cap threads onto the tip end when not in use, or the butt end while writing.

Good kit for the price
The bit size on the package , display and instructions were all different, bit over all it has been a great pen. People have asked for them a few times now.

Great pen kit
Though these pen kits are not the most advanced, they are nice. I have made many pens and these fit the bill for those that want a rollerball without spending $25+. All these negative reviews, in my opinion, don't really do the kit justice.

Bad packaging, nice kit.
For some unknown reason, this kit is packed with the centerband coupler screwed into the middle of the nib and nib coupler. TIGHTLY screwed together. My hands weren't strong enough to unscrew it. I finally took the whole mess to Rockler and one of the clerks was able to get the parts unscrewed so it could be assembled. Other than that, it is a nice kit and made a very pretty pen.

Don’t waste your money
If I could give this kit zero stars that would still be too many. I purchased one kit and had to take it back because some of that parts wouldn’t unscrew from each other. The second kit seemed to be better, until it came time to assemble. The clip won’t fit over the end cap. When I attempted to press the end cap clip assembly onto the pen I found the cap is bigger than the tube. This kit is an absolute waste of time, money, and effort.

I hate rockler
I am new to woodworking, and purchased a lot on Amazon, but I wanted to establish a relationship with my local rockler, for better equipment., convenience and expertise, none of which I have rec'd. Return policy very difficult and had to put up with attitude for even an exchange. The gentleman helping me, I found out later knew nothing of pen making, yet will to make the wrong recommendation, and a host of other issues. This is the last straw. I purchased a fountain pen kit, and I have to go to rockler.com to get drill sizes, no instructions at all. All the other ones I have purchased have the sizes and instructions in the kit. I am giving them one start because that is the lowest I can give.

Junk
Bought this in store. First, it listed different drill bit sizes at the store than are in the online instructions (I took a picture of the card in the store for reference and checked that I was looking at the right product multiple times). The in-store size didn't fit, so I guess we know which was correct. Second, as has been mentioned, screwing down the pen cap all the way does not allow the nib assembly to fully seat in the pen body. Finally, the cap just stopped screwing onto the pen entirely before I was even able to load ink into it. This is absolute garbage. Wish I'd seen the reviews online. I don't know how Rockler can sell a shoddy piece of merchandise like this.

Poorly Designed Pen Kit
Cap barely screws onto kit. Instructions are poor. If you follow the instructions to a T like I did, the nib connection does not get pressed in far enough. If you try to screw the cap on all the way, the feed for the nib gets pushed out of place.

Overall a very bad pen kit. Will not be buying this again. I advice others to avoid this pen kit as well.

Absolute piece of junk
The plastic ring inside the center piece breaks loose the first time you try to screw the pen shut and it cannot be fixed. After three kits and using some very old one of a kind wood, I have three pens that are basically useless.

Avoid this kit, its junk.
