Router plate template
The template worked great, but the recommended router bit did not work, as the bearing would not ride against the template and go deep enough for a smooth edge surface.

The time saved by using this was worth it money spent
Wasn't sure if this was worth the purchase since I had initially planned to build my own template. I bought it on a recommendation by a Rocker specialist and was glad that I did. It was very easy to finish my router table build with this template. I kept it in case I want to build another.

Worth the money
I'm very glad I spent the money instead of trying to do everything by hand. I wanted my table top d o n e done. Just make sure its properly secured and you won't have any problems. And if I ever have to replace the table top, I just have to get the template back out.

Woodworking Experience:
Good template
Rating is for the piece itself, though I think it should come with a plate purchase. Good piece to have. Last thing I wanted was to mess up the table I'd built to put the router in. This was on of the first things I've ever used a router for and it's pretty foolproof. Nuisance to have to buy separately though.

My Rockler router table has only an 8x11 openening for a router plate. Do I need to make it bigger to fit these other plates? How did I get an odd size?
BARNEY H. on Jun 22, 2018
BEST ANSWER: This template is for creating the hole in your table to put the plate in. My Rockler router lift has an 8 1/4 by 11 3/4 plate which fits the holes you would create with this template.
My router is a Makita Model 36120, what router table plate do I need ?
Festus on May 27, 2015
BEST ANSWER: You will need to know the hole pattern and spacing of the holes in your router and check them against our router plate guides (These can be found on Rocker's website under router plates and in the technical downloads category. We have guides for A-D plates, but if you can't find one that fits, we also have the option of two plates that are not drilled that you could drill to fit your router
The "permanantly affixed" instructions were not so permanent. Does anyone have a hard copy or photo of the instructions? I'm looking for the correct bit sizes to use. Thanks
Michael C on Jul 28, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Don't know exactly which holes you are looking for. My template calls for 1/2" access holes to cut out the opening for the router to allow for jigsaw cut-out. Calls for 11/32" for the 1/4-20 threaded inserts and 11/64" for plate leveling screws. If you send me an email I will try to forward a copy of my instructions if needed.
Have an old Rockler router table with 8x11 plate. Does melanin top on table need to be scored per template before using the suggested pattern bit to enlarge plate hole for FX lift to prevent chip out?
Dennis C on Mar 6, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I routed a pre-installed Formica top without scoring first. No problems. No experience with melanin.
Does this work with the woodpecker router lift?
Mike E on Sep 30, 2019
BEST ANSWER: It will only fit if the size of the plate is 8.25in x 11.75in. Woodpecker lifts are in 2 different sizes.
Does this template match the corner radius of the Rockler Lift FX?
Jeffrey O on Mar 17, 2017
Yes it did on the one I bought. It was a drop in from the package.

I have a rockler router table. The plate that came with it is too small for my Triton router. I ordered a proplate C but the plate is now too big for the opening in the table. I have no template or guide and now I have two pieces that do not work together and I am VERY FRUSTRATED. What am I to do?
Sally r on Sep 27, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Check u tube for examples on how to make a template to fit ur insert, u are going to need a good router bite with. A matching ballbaering guide .
will this work with the kreg plate? thanks
Teofilo G on Nov 10, 2015
BEST ANSWER: You can use this template to cut larger openings. Lay out here you want the opening, set your depth, and route. Next set up a fence so you can slide the template one inch to make the wider cut. Clamp down the template and make your final cut. By sliding the template you make pretty much any size opening you need.
The included instructions don't give precise locations for the leveling screws or more importantly, the lock-down screws. I am going to CNC rout my table top and need these dimensions. Help?
Matt R on Oct 7, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I think that would be based on the plate you have this is just a router template that you wouldn't need if you're using a CNC
Will this template work for the Incra Mast-R-Lift-II-R Designed I purchased from Rockler. The plate dimension of the lift is 8 1/4 by 11 3/4 and the dimention of this template is the same, but will the corners line up gap free??
Leon G on Jul 30, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I got one of these a few years ago when I was making a new router table, and it worked perfectly. The fit of the router plate was precise without any gaps, not even enough for a sheet of paper to slide into. It was well-worth the money.
what diameter does the base of the router need to be to fit this template?
John D on Jun 11, 2018
BEST ANSWER: The size of the router base is not important, but you will want a 1/2" Pattern Cutting Bit, such as Rockler item #33536.
will this work for the Rockler Router Lift FX?
