I use this along with the overarm collection system, and it almost completely eliminates dust. Very satisfied with it.

An excellent addition. I just hooked it up with my vacuum and there is virtually no dust escaping, especially when ripping wider stock, ie sheet goods!!!

Disappointed in performance
Has to be removed for most small cuts (1/2”) because dust collectors hit fence. Does not collect dust well when using Y collector, hook directly to shop vac for best results. I find myself leaving collector/guard off saw most of time. I put back on sometimes when ripping a lot of boards, because I feel the need to justify my purchase. I plan to make my own overarm bracket, this way will have dust collection with all cuts, including with cross cut shied.

This Blade gaurd does an excellent job on when cutting wide boards or sheet goods.

When cutting on the edge of a board where one side of the guard does not make contact with the board some sawdust can still escape.

It works as well as your shop vac will let it.
The problem with the saws top collection guard is not the guard but how much suction you are getting out of your shop vac for me i hooked mine to a separate shop vac and now it works great.

The guard is a great concept, however it will only work on sawstop table saws. I had to return it.

Wish the riving knife came 2mm thick for thin kerf blades!
Decent collection for standard thicker 1/8" blades, however Sawstop does not make a thin riving knife for this overhead blade guard? Wish they did! With the 3/32" blades available, it seems the blades stay sharper longer and much easier to push material through the saw given it is 25% less material across the blade. Come on Sawstop, make a thinner riving knife for this, please!

Over hyped...
SawStop has a long way to go when it comes to dust control. So far I have not found the guard very useful as it is frequently removed for narrow cuts. I'm also having a difficult time getting the dust control even working since a portable dust collector doesn't seem strong enough to do the job. It frequently gets clogged up and overflows into the cabinet/base. That's when you find yourself cleaning out the saw since more goes into the base than into the dust collector.

Will this work as a replacement on an older model SawStop upper blade guard?
LD H on Oct 7, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Bill J:

Thank you for your feedback, it's great to know you are enjoying it.

LD H:

In response to your question, I am not sure what you mean by "upper blade guard", but rest assured our Dust Collection Blade Guard will work on your older SawStop saw. If you have one of our cast iron saws, then an even better idea is to combine the Dust Collection Blade Guard with our Overarm Dust Collection. Together you can see up to 99% total dust collection; even the small particulates which, according to the CDC, are the most carcinogenic. I hope this answers your question adequately for you.
Will this work on a 2005 delta unisaw?

BEST ANSWER: Joe F:

Thank you for your interest in SawStop! In response to your question, there are many different accessory choices on the market, each with its own installation and modification requirements. We do not test on the many other-brand aftermarket items, and therefore we do not have the necessary information to recommend your best result.

The manufacturer of the product you are interested in is likely the best place to start, as they may have a better idea of necessary modifications to fit SawStop saws. If our saw specifications will help you research your options, please find them at www.sawstop.com under your specific model.
