SawStop Professional Table Saw Mobile Base

Item #
38162
Rating:
88% of 100

This mobile base makes moving the rugged Sawstop® PCS Professional Cabinet Saws (sold separately) an absolute breeze, and does so without compromising any of the stability and rigidity so desired in cabinet saws of that caliber. In fact, it's built so tough that it requires no additional support for saws with the longer 52" fence. Give the foot pedal three quick pumps, and the saw is lifted onto four sturdy, rotating casters. A light press on the release lowers the saw so that it rests firmly on the ground, not the casters, ensuring excellent stability while sawing.

Features:
  • Compatible with the Sawstop PCS Professional Cabinet Saws (sold separately)
  • Mobile base supports both saw and extension table-no need for separate framework for the 52" extension table.
  • Two swiveling casters and two fixed casters provide mobility in any direction
  • After lowering, the saw rests directly on your shop floor, not on the casters, so its weight is transferred directly to the floor
  • To raise the saw, pump the foot pedal three times
  • To lower the saw, lightly trip the release
  • Constructed from fully welded solid 1/4" steel with a black powder coat finish
  • High performance full ball bearing casters
  • No International shipping available on SawStop items. SawStop items can only be shipped within the Continental United States.
  • SawStop, the SawStop blade logo, and the configurations of SawStop products are either registered trademarks or trademarks of SawStop, LLC and are used with permission.

Best part of the saw
No one has enough shop space-- but I build really big scenery in a really small shop. The mobile table base is worth it's weight in gold for being able to make a bunch of rip cuts and get the table out of the way.

SawStop
I had a serious injury with my old table saw. I would recommend this table saw to all levels of woodworkers. It is expensive but so are your fingers. All the power you should need in a home shop. Also very easy to set depth and width. Perfect straight cuts once you have everything adjusted. Recommend the overhead dust collector.

After injuring my left thumb twice on my old saw I decided it was time to upgrade my 1985 contractor saw to a new SawStop Professional Model with a 36" fence and a 1.75 hp motor. No regrets with this purchase.
The staff at the Rockler Store in Cincinnati are knowledgeable and were very helpful with my decision.
The saw assembly was straight forward, with very understandable instructions, most of tools required were provided which was very helpful. The saw out of the box required no adjustment, I made a slight adjustment to the fence. I'm an old car guy and used the nickle test to prove my work after a tune up. I stood a nickle on edge and turned the saw on and the nickle never moved, the saw is vibration free. Try it you will be as amazed as I am! I demonstrate this to all who visit my shop. The saw deserves a 5+ star rating!

How much money is your hand worth?
When I was looking to replace my tablesaw I was leery about spending that much money, after a lot of thinking and again My better judgment I did purchase the sawstop. About four months after I purchased the saw I had an unfortunate accident while I was Cutting some wood for a cedar chest that I was making for my granddaughter. The sawstop saved my left hand. I ended up with a small cut on my finger that just took a Band-Aid. No matter how safe you are accidents happen! How much money do you Thank your hand is worth?

Gret addition to saw
With my saw I purchased the mobile base. The kit went together flawlessly. This base makes moving the saw, even it if is only a few inches, very, very easy. The base even lets the saw back down wihtout jarring anything. Definitely a great addition to the saw!

Excellent purchase and makes woodworking a joy. You'll have to set up a 220 plug. This required that I rewire my basement to accommodate the saw, but the extra power was well worth it. And, as for safety, my son set off the cartridge, so it's paid for itself already.

Unfortunately, I decided to buy this saw one day too late!! Don't make the same mistake! How much is a finger worth to you? I had an accident with my RIDGID contractor table the morning I made this purchase. It was my second! I am an experienced woodworker with years of experience but was focused elsewhere for a brief moment and "BAM!" If you have all your fingers and own anything but a Sawstop table saw make the Sawstop purchase TODAY!

This is a heavy tool, get a good base for mobility and flexibility in the shop - you won't regret it.

Will this work on the right side of a SawStop 3HP saw with the 36" extension table? I'd like to put it where the not-cast-iron extension table is. I see a previous answer about the dust shroud location, but that appears to be on the left side.

SawStop 3HP Professional Table Saw w/30'' Fence, Rails, and Extension Table
SawStop 3HP Professional Table Saw w/30'' Fence, Rails, and Extension Table
BEST ANSWER: It does fit, however the rip fence rail on the SS will block the mitre slot on the router table. Also it makes it so heavy on that end, so it's not safe to move on the mobile base. I had mine like this for awhile, and then put it on the left side, and I'm much happier with it there.
Will this base work with the sawstop 10 inch professional cabinet saw model number CB 31230?
Susan C on Feb 29, 2016
BEST ANSWER: THE BASE I PURCHASED WITH MY SAW WORKS NICE . I HAVE NOT HAD TO USE IT MUCH. TO COMPLETLEY ANSWER YOUR QUESTION CONTACT SAWSTOP DIRECT I HAVE USED THEM SEVERAL TIMES THEY WERE RIGHT ON POINT WITH THERE ANSWERS AND EVEN ASSISTED IN RESOULVING THE FEW PROBLEMS I HAD.
How is the saw shipped? How heavy is the base. How heavy is the table?
Louv1 on Nov 24, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Louv1:

Thank you very much for your interest in SawStop! The Professional Cabinet saw is, as Skip M says, shipped on a pallet. The heaviest box will be the one containing the saw body, which will weigh about 375 - 425 depending on if you get our 1.75hp or 3hp model. The best way to move this box is to open it and remove the 2 cast iron wings, which will lighten it by 80 lbs. Having a furniture dolly or hand truck is most helpful in this process. The dimensions of that box is 31"L x 42"W x 30"H.
Can the great SawStop mobile base be adapted to other stationary tools?
Wally on Sep 5, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I suppose so , it is kind of an expensive solution to that problem.
