The SD500 Series of dado sets cuts everything from veneered plywoods and laminates to solid wood, chip and splinter-free with a super smooth, flat bottom. The SD500 Series dado sets were the first to include a 3/32" thick chipper and has the flexibility of an adjustable dado to handle today's undersized plywood. This allows the cut width to be adjusted in 1/32" increments and doubles the number of slot widths available. A shim set is also included with the dado set for fine adjustments. Use on all table saws, and radial arm saws for cutting slots, grooves, dadoes, and rabbets in softwood or hardwood.

Love my new Freud dado set
The Freud Dado set far exceeded my expectations. Wish I would have purchased this years ago. It is well made, comes in a nice case and cuts perfect flat bottom dados wthout any tearout!!
I used it to cut 3/8" slots across the miter joints in a box I am making from bird's eye maple and walnut. The slots were very clean cut and required no clean up.
Box with splines inserted
Diplays how clean the dados are
Jig used to cut the slots in the corners of the box.

Love the Datto set!
What a nice set of blades, the cuts are very clean and precise!
Rockler’s price on this is very competitive, I priced it at a local Toolmart, the same set was $40 more!

A step up dado set
I got this set as a step up from a 25+ year old set for a new project. The result was an almost perfect slot and a very smooth cut through a combination of maple and cherry. A very good chart is included. The DVD is OK and primarily geared toward someone who has never used a dado set before.

Woodworking Experience:
As always, great quality product from Freud. It can be a little difficult to pull the trigger on the $200 price tag, but if you're primarily going to be using it on hardwoods (like me) then it's worth the extra cash. SUPER clean cuts in walnut, wenge, etc..

I am fairly new to woodworking and am thinking of getting a Dado set. What I have not been able to find is the proper setup of the chippers and outside cutting blades. More specifically where to line up the cutting tips of the chippers to the cutting tips of the outside cutting blades. Does anyone have any pics of how these should line up ?
Robbster on Dec 18, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Freud's website has some instructional downloads but these are mainly about stack combos to hit specific fado widths. My Freud dado set has rotational markings, there is a proper left hand and right hand blade for the outsiders of the dado. After that, I just try to stack the internal blades so that the carbide cutters don't make contact since there is some overlap.

Since you're new to the game, watching several YouTube videos is a great place to start. There's lots of great content out there.
Does this work with a DeWalt DE745 portable saw?
Paul A on Apr 12, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Sorry, I do not know if it will work with your saw. however, it only works partially with my table saw because the arbor is not long enough on my saw, I can only get a few of the blades on and still get the washer and nut on the arbor to hold the blades so I can only cut about 1/2" dado. Make sure your arbor is the right length and thickness for the hole in these blades.
Can they be used with Sawstop table saw?
jim z on Feb 9, 2019
BEST ANSWER: works like a dream on my SawStop 10" Professional Cabinet Saw. It does require a different blade brake and insert plate.
What is the max dado width for this dado set it appears to be 5/8 inch??
