Definitely get these when starting out.
Definitely I need when starting out. You always mess up on one or two pins and without these you won't be able to have enough cylinders to complete your kits.

It's easy to make a mistake in the prep stages, especially while learning how to make pens. I have already gone through 3 tubes that I could not retrieve so extra tubes are important for keeping projects going.

May be a dumb question but are "tubes" the same as "blanks", as required to complete needed items for pen kit?
Mark A on Dec 11, 2016
BEST ANSWER: no-you drill a hole in the wood blank and use CA glue to attach the tube and the blank together. you need the tube to enable you to press the parts of the pen together. That is, the tube is needed for connectivity (to make to pen pieces "stick" together.)
Do they make any tubes that have an ID of 7.2mm just a tad bigger id than 7mm? Are these tubes 7mm OD or ID?
Ron on Mar 13, 2017
How thick are the inner walls of these tubes?
SGuitar on Jan 11, 2017
BEST ANSWER: My micrometer measures the thickness of the walls at .28mm or .011”
The inside diameter of the tubes measure 6.1mm or .245”
What is the length of these tubes?
A shopper on Aug 4, 2015
BEST ANSWER: From what I've seen the tubes are 2-1/32 long.
