Spring tool set
I saw this on display at the checkout counter. I grabbed one thinking I may be able to use this, seemed handy. I use it regularly for marking hole centers before drilling. Very useful little device. I don't much use it for setting finishing nails as I use glue and/or air nailer. I do have finishing nails on display on my work bench from a by-gone era.

Woodworking Experience:
Don't plan to lose it, but if I did, I'd buy another one right away.
A simple dependable mechanism that leaves a dimple in metal or a starter "pit" in wood that prevents my drill bits from skating away.
Easier to carry than a manual bit and hammer to get the same result.

Spring Tool
I was skeptical when I bought this tool, but it is really handy for center punching a variety of materials. You can control the force by varying the spring stretch.

Simple and it works. Can't argue with a simple tool that works. No need for flash. Sets nail heads perfectly and pops door hinges easily too

Spring Tool Set
I find it very handy and easy to use as a center punch and nail set. I bought one for my neighbor’s wife when she mentioned having a difficult time counter sinking nails on some baseboards and other items. She loved it! A great tool to have!

Dimpling a surface for drilling doesn't occur to often with setting finish nails, so I bought another set tool to keep with my finish assembly tools.

What type of material are the tips made of? Can the tips be replaced?
Wayne W on Dec 18, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I believe that the tip is made from Tool Steel or hardened and that is the same as the body of the device---it works ok but not for significant sizes other than very small finishing nails---much better for marking a hard surface for drilling
Why is it sold in a set, do you need one for each function?
Mik M on Dec 29, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The term "set", in this case, means nail set, not a group of similar items. They work well, I have worn two of the smaller ones out. After a LOT of use, the spring stretches to al,oat useless . I will be replacing mine, though
