Each
Ambrosia Maple is simply ordinary maple that has been infested by ambrosia beetles. The beetles bore tunnels and short galleries called ''cradles'' in the wood, which provide harbor for a fungus, which in turn causes the black and gray streaks flanking each tunnel. As the tree grows, it stretches the streak to create the beautiful Ambrosia pattern. It is sometimes referred to as ''beetle-stained maple.'' Turns much like other stabilized woods.
