4-Piece Wood Screw Countersink/Pilot Hole Drill Bit Set
4-Piece Wood Screw Countersink/Pilot Hole Drill Bit Set

Our Wood Screw Countersink Drill Bits are shaped specifically for traditional wood screws with a tapered head, thicker shank and narrower thread. Note how the black countersink portion of the bit extends along the pilot bit to provide clearance for the shank of the screw. This allows you to enjoy the increased strength of screws with a thicker shank without compromising the grip of the threads. This 4-Piece Set includes bits for #6, #8, #10 and #12 wood screws.

Features:

  • Use for wood screws with the traditional thicker shank
  • 1/4'' hex shank for easy change-out with driver bits
  • Durable black oxide coating on countersinks
  • Pilot bits and countersinks are separable

wonderful
Sure speeds up the process of having to drill then countersink. The only trick is learning not to over sink in soft wood.

A bit of clogging in the middle section.
These clog a little in the area of widening the hole for the screw shank. But still they do the job with a little clog removal effort.

This is a much improved product. I'm pleased with the results. My older drills cannot compete with these!

Is this the appropriate bit if I intend to fill the holes with wood plugs?
Burton D on Mar 18, 2019
BEST ANSWER: As long as you match the size of the countersink to the size of the plugs, then yes. You might need to very lightly sand the outside of the plugs, and inside of the drilled hole, to get the proper fit.
How long do the bits protrude past the countersink head? I want to know the thinnest stock i can countersink into without breaking out the far side.
Matthew D on Jun 5, 2019
BEST ANSWER: About 1 5/8” from counter sink
does the bit have a cutting edge to countersink the screw shaft and another for the screw head?
Tom M on Nov 12, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes, it drills a countersink hole for both the shank of the wood screw and the head.
