Use this extra track section to extend the one included with the Stainless Steel Rolling Barn Door Hardware Kits (#59651 and #58665, sold separately). Joining two tracks is necessary when hanging very large doors that wouldn't otherwise fit on the stock 78-3/4'' track. A splice kit (#54086, sold separately) is required for a smooth joint where the tracks come together. Includes wall brackets and end stops.

What keeps door from swinging out?

BEST ANSWER: The door is generally heavy enough to prevent that. Mine has been in for 9 months now and never had an issue. If you have a very light door I suppose it could move more.
How far above the door does the hardware extend? 5 inches or so I would assume.

BEST ANSWER: It is variable to some degree, depending on where you attach to the door. from the top of door to the bottom of the rail, I have 1.5" There are specifications on the web site. I think they are metric
