Rockler CrossCut Sled Drop-Off Platform

Provides safe, splinter-free cuts.
Item #
37541
Rating:
90% of 100

Combined with our Crosscut Sled (#33113, sold separately), this platform will provide true zero-clearance support on both sides of the blade for safe, splinter-free cuts. By keeping drop-off pieces from sagging at the end of the cut, it prevents them from splitting off unpredictably, and from getting jammed in the throat plate. Easy to use - just slide it into the miter track and lock in place with a single screw.

Excellent Adition
Excellent Addition,

I’ve used the sled for about a year. Works very well. I added the drop off section recently. It allows for perfect clean zero clearance cuts and the cut off material doesn’t dance around, fly off, or fall into the throat. Nice job!

Highly recommended.

Rockler Drop-Off Platform
I installed the drop-off platform together with the Rockler Cross Cut Sled and the two work together as apair made for each opther (and they are). They work very well together and I would highly recommend the purchase of this product when you buy the Rockler Cross Cut Sled

Gotta have both
I though I didn't need the drop off platform but I ended up going back to get it. It really helps to hold to smaller pieces safetly away from the blade once their cut. Buy both and save youeself a trip to the store.

Gotta have it
like the title sad Gotta have it it prevents blowouts and makes all the difference in the world obtaining smooth cuts. The only other thing to note is that having a good sharp blade is paramount.

I agree with the other comments and have heard so many great things about this product and the sled. Crosscuts and miter cuts is the goal here. This over making a Crosscut sled

It appears that you trim this one off too as you do with the cross-cut sled? I don't find any instructions for the drop-off platform except on the box.
Gary M on Jun 7, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes you do bit on the other side of the blade.
Can this be mounted to the right side of the blade?
Jim C on Jul 20, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The drop of sled is mounted to the right side only. The ?Crosscut sled it is used with is mounted to the left side only.
Can the platform be used with all safety equipment installed?
James M on Jun 4, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes
Is this necessary if already have a zero clearance insert?
Rex M on Mar 7, 2020
BEST ANSWER: If you are using the Rockler cross cut sled you'll want to use the drop-off platform. It really is nice that it supports the off-cut and prevents splintering when it drops off. I also believe it can be safer knowing that the off-cut is less likely to kick back once it's cut due to it being supported. So in my opinion it's not necessary but the peace of mind is worth every penny. It's like using an enclose cross cut sled except you have the angle gauge with a clamp. I love mine.
The lock screw doesn’t appear to do anything to lock the platform in place. It slides just as freely with it tight and loose. I can see in theory how it works, or should work. Anybody know what the deal is? Would be nice to have some instructions with it for beginners like me 🙂 thx
Wendy K on Mar 10, 2020
BEST ANSWER: I had the same problem and what I did was tighten the screw from the underside of the drop off platform. The screw head on that side is slightly larger and you get a better grip on the screw head to tighten it. It won't move much but it will be enough to tighten it a little bit more. that worked for me.
I cut some tenons using my cross cut sled and a dado blade, but noticed that the sled rocks a little bit depending on how hard I press on the section nearest the blade. That rocking results in tenons with variable thickness. How can I prevent this problem?
Wally on Sep 18, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Not sure I have same problem.
