Digital Wheel Marking Gauge

Item #
88% of 100
Whether you're marking for tenons, mortises or dovetails, this Digital Wheel Marking Gauge will help you dial in your settings fast. With accuracy to 1/1000th of an inch, you can easily change settings, then quickly return to a previous setting with perfect repeatability. The beveled wheel helps to pull the gaugeface snug against your stock, and its round shape helps the cutter slice through the grain, rather than following it. All of this results in excellent accuracy. The large display features big numbers that are easy on older eyes, and can be toggled between inches, metric and fractions with the push of a button.

Technical Details:

A very useful tool
Nice tool, very accurate and easy to use. The only issue I see with it is that the scale on the bar is not aligned with the marking wheel, thus make the scale practically useless. However, since i only use the digital readout, this is a minor nit.

Continue to improve my skills
The adddition on this digital marking gauge matches the accuracy of the other digital measuring tools & is a great compliment to them. Infamously, why did I wait so long?
So pleased of this purchase.

Digital Wheel marking guage
Very impressed with the obvious manufacturing quality of this tool. I like its range of units, I use both Imperial and Metric. I have not used it on a job yet, it only got here (Lawrence NSW, Austalia) last week. I've a big job coming up with dovetail drawers, it will get a work-out there. Happy to advise again later

May be overkill, but nice...
Used this gauge on a project needing slightly proud through
tenons, but only protruding about 1/16 inch. This gauge allowed
me to mark my piece more accurately. Don't know if I'll ever
need this degree of precision again, but who knows...woodworkers and their toys, right?!

Very impressed thus far!
This tool is the greatest if you have trouble making repeatable marking lines using a pencil and ruler or have trouble seeing the smaller increments on a ruler. I love this tool. I use it to score the wood and then highlight the mark with a sharp pencil. This would have saved me so much frustration and wasted wood in the past!

What is the tiny tool for that comes with the gage? It looks like a reset pin, but I see no hole in which to put it.
Steve H on Jul 8, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I am not certain what tol Steve is referring to. A picture of the item might be helpful.
Can one cinch this in place at a certain measurement? How can one be sure it is exact like a lock down guage?
Gery B on Mar 22, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes Gery it cinches down extremely well and holds an exact dimension, even when it slips out of your hand a little and lands on your bench! As I found out last week it was still precise!
Does the marking wheel rotate or is it fixed in place?
Robert Q on Jun 28, 2019
BEST ANSWER: It is fixed.
how do you change battery?
michael b on Apr 11, 2018
BEST ANSWER: There is a small rectangular door/drawer ln the side of the caliper near the tightening screw. Pull the drawer out and it will pull the battery out. Replace with a new battery and slide the drawer back in to place. Pay attention to the battery orientation when removing the old one and orient the battery the same way. I hope that helped.
