Anti-static material dissipates static, helping to prevent painful shocks.

Dust Right® 4'' Anti-Static Dust Hose

Item #
86% of 100

Rockler's industry-first Anti-Static Dust Hose is impregnated with ''carbon black,'' helps to reduce the static build-up that can lead to shocks. It is rugged, yet flexible—a true pleasure to use. To understand static build-up in a plastic dust hose, think of a tubular plastic playground slide. The dust and chips flowing through the hose can create a large amount of friction and static charge. While some dust collection systems remedy the problem with a grounding wire, this hose prevents the problem at the source—the hose itself. This flexible and durable hose has a 4'' inside diameter and is 10 feet long. It is made from a durable plastic helix with carbon black added to dissipate static build-up.

For use with left hand threading accessories. This product will not work with Right Hand Thread Bridge Hose Clamps (#26177) or Clamped Quick Disconnect Fitting (#37789).

It’s great for my small shop and I like that I won’t be zapped when I need to move the hose to a different location while it’s running.

Dust Right 4" Anti-Static Hose
Excellent! I bought a 4" hose for use on my portable shop vacuum system. It quickly attached to the piece of operating equipment such as my 10" table saw and to my 10" radial arm saw shop vacuum to create a clean, dust and wood chip free, shop environment.

Woodworking Experience:
Great Product, No Static
When I first started woodworking over 25 years ago, a local woodworkers store offered a course in dust collection. I took it. The instructor emphasized the importance of grounding all plastic hose. Doing this involves wrapping bare copper wire around the outside of the hose and connecting it to the tool. A pain. So, when I saw this anti-static hose, I was sold.

Now, in case you don’t think you have any static electricity, try this assuming you live somewhere that has winter. Hook up your ungrounded plastic hose to say, your miter saw as I did. Make several cuts. With the saw running, look at the dust collection hose. In my case, I saw saw dust projecting out from the hose. Ok, so what? Static electricity and sawdust are an explosion hazard. It is a serious issue with grain silos. While you may never have an explosion, you could. Why risk it?

Anti Static 4" hose.
Fits considerably tighter than the clear hose. Needed an adapter to fit to my dust collector.

Using it on my Powermatic table saw
I have one hose connected to my table saw port then to a 4 inch hose port. I have the other hose connected to my dust collector with the quick connect attachment at the opposite end to connect to my table saw hose and to other shop equipment where I can easily get to the ports.

Great quality.
Good quality hose. Add a little head and the hose slips right over the fittings and then cools to a nice snug fit.

This light-weight and more flexible hose is so much nicer to work with that I purchased additional hoses to replace each of my 25-year old (heavier and stiffer) flex hose. I ran a ground wire throughout my dust collection system, so the hose's anti-static feature was not considered.

I'm new to this...when would this be an issue?
Ben F on Jan 1, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The bridge clamps that rockler sells are right handed clamps. This hose spirals in what's considered left handed and you'll need left handed bridge clamps. This product does come with two left handed clamps; however, if you decide to cut this hose into two or three shorter hoses, you'll need to buy additional left handed bridge clamps. I did this and used the right handed bridge clamps and thought I was trippin.
What kind of plastic is this made from? PVC? Polypropylene? Polyethylene? I know it has carbon added, but added to what?
Wondering on Oct 23, 2015
BEST ANSWER: It's made of some type of anti-static specially formulated poly, the dust slides through very well.
Has plastic helix to keep from collapsing. Would buy another, if the need be. Very durable.
Does Rockler sell any fittings for this hose that will connect to standard dust port on a table saw or router table? I am having trouble connecting to my table saw.
Kathleen on Sep 20, 2016
BEST ANSWER: yes they do have fittings 4" dia to 2" dia. or from 2" to 4".
good luck.
Is the inside of this hose totally smooth? I want the inside to be as smooth as the inside of a PVC pipe, meaning I don't want the outside coil wire to be on the inside at all. Is that this hose?
Rob H on Aug 29, 2015
BEST ANSWER: No the inside is like the outside, that you see ,,when you stretch out the hose it tends to have smaller ribs.
It's the material inside that the dust doesn't stick to very well. The hose works well without an extra static line.
What color is this hose?
Gregg D on Nov 28, 2015
BEST ANSWER: black with blue covering over the wiring
I am looking to replace the hose on my lawn vacuum. Will this be sturdy enough for outdoor leaf pick up, moving it in and out of nooks and crannies?
Roger S on Nov 21, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Not sure what you are hooking up to, but this hose works very well on my dust extractor!!
It does have a slight static problem with my planner!!a few little shocks!!
Can you link several together? I thought you had one that expanded to 20'
Scott O on May 10, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Currently, I believe that they only offer ten foot lengths. You would need to purchase a splice connector to allow two units to be joined. Like yourself, I would have been happier purchasing one contiguous length. I do think that the hose is well made and should provide good service. One additional comment is, that the spiral reinforcement has a left hand thread and will not therefore work with normal right hand threaded connectors
Does this hose have the same flexibility as the Dust Rite 4" hose without anti-static?
Nick D on Dec 31, 2016
BEST ANSWER: This hose is very flexible.
would a 1 metre length of the 4 inch dust extractor hose attached to PVC pipe that is vertical retract after you have stretched it out for use in a machine lower down?
chris k on Apr 11, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Not automatically. The hose collapses and expands with force "popping" as each winding is stretched out or collapsed. It's not difficult to work with at all, but no it doesn't collapse back to short by itself...if that's what you mean.
Do you need to ground the ends?
THELBERT S on Apr 1, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I don't think you're supposed to. There were no wires or anything that would lead me to believe so. I will say that I love the hoses, easily cuts to length for stationary machines. Yet very flexible for others that you move from one location to another. Very pleased. ????
Does Rockler separately sell the bridge hose clamps that come with the hose that match the left hand spiral? Product #?
Terry O on Dec 31, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Not sure if they are sold in their catalog. I picked up mine at the store in Milwaukee
using this hose at the blower, will that eliminate the need for the grounding wire?

BEST ANSWER: I don't but it could use one!!!
