Full-Size Ergonomic Carbide Turning Tool, Hollowing

The swan neck shaft of our Carbide Hollowing Tool is specially contoured for making blind cuts and undercuts inside of turned vessels. Like our other carbide turning tools, it features a replaceable, rotatable cutter that does away with the hassle and downtime of sharpening. Just rotate the carbide cutter for a fresh, sharp edge, and replace it once all available edges are dull. Ideal for beginning to advanced woodturners, ensuring quick success without the frustration of dull tools, and without the need to invest in sharpening equipment.

Features:

  • Contoured swan neck reaches inside of turned vessels to hollow and smooth the inside surface
  • Solid carbide cutter stays sharp for longer when compared with steel for a longer useful life
  • Shaft features a flattened back for stability when using the tool rest
  • Handle is made of solid ash encased in thick, molded rubber end for enhanced grip and reduced fatigue

I truly have no problems with the tool. However, since this is my first of its kind for me, I could use a good tutorial and tool rest recommendation for its use. The Rikon standard rest for the Midi lathe is too small and without a flat surface the tool rolls. It would be nice to know I need a different tool rest for best results.
Still getting used to the tool, but can say on the few occasions when I did get it positioned just right it worked great.

I've been looking for a hollowing tool for sometime. Saw this Rockler carbide. I have used their other carbide and thought it might what I was looking for.
