These carbide tips hold a factory edge for an impressive amount of time. I ordered replacements only to have on hand but aren’t evening required yet... and I’ve put them to the test!

Time to replace
I’ve used the mini cutter now for a few months and find it a very useful tool. I’ve sharpened the carbide on a diamond stone a number of times so felt I sholuld have a replacement cutter available.

how long do the cutters last?
BEST ANSWER: This isn't an easy question to answer. It's almost like the old riddle, "How long is a piece of string?"
Answer: Twice as long as half as much.
Not at all helpful, I know, but it depends on the wood you are cutting, whether it's easy or difficult to turn, how long or short or infrequent your turning sessions are and whether or not you remember to turn them a bit when you find the cuts aren't going smoothly enough. Use a set until the wood just isn't responding the way it should, then replace the blade.
Hope that helped. Too many variables to get specific.

how do I know if I need an R2 or R1?
BEST ANSWER: The R1 has a circular profile. The R2 is a rounded square. If one of these fits your tool the other will also, but they are used for different cutting.
