Laguna ShearForce Bandsaw Blade, 5/8'' x 115''

Item #

Rating:

The Laguna ShearForce is an exceptional blade that offers an economic alternative to the Resaw King. It combines a smooth finish for general ripping and resawing with a long blade life, and its ultra-thin kerf ensures maximum yield for your lumber. Made from durable spring steel with precision heat-treated teeth, the ShearForce produces smooth, fast cuts in all types of woods. Variable spacing on the teeth reduces harmonic vibration, resulting in an exceptionally quiet cut.

Great Blade
Really glad I invested in this Laguna blade. I needed to make some significant cuts in a 10” thick laminated block of purple heart and ash. This blade cleanly cut through this very hard block.

Nice blade!
This is good enough for resaw ingredients. Silicon carbide blade isn't as long-lasting as a carbide blade but dang, this one cuts really nice.

Re-sawing made easy
Using the 5/8" bandsaw blade has proven to be proficient in doing re-sawing. I have only used it on cherry wood so far and used it to rip a 7" 4/4 plank. The blade has worked well. I purchased the 5/8" blade which was the largest 115" bandsaw blade that was available with the purchase of my new bandsaw. I would have purchased a 3/4" or even 1" blade instead given the opportunity since I was told wider is better for re-sawing. I will do more research to find a larger blade when I have time or they become available.

Positive first impression
Have made a half dozen cuts turning oak and mesquite logs into turning blanks. Very pleased with the smooth finish and ease of cutting. iIf resawing stock for projects you can go straight to sanding skipping the planer. The only negatives in the reviews I read before purchasing were the blade didn't stay sharp long, I haven't used it enough to know if I agree with that comment.

Excellent blade
This is a serious re-saw blade capable of producing veneer. That is, it can produce very thin, uniform sheets of wood, and it is just as good ripping very thin wood, like ¼ inch plywood. While the table saw rips wood ready to plane, this band saw blade rips or re-saws material ready to sand, it is that smooth. In ripping ¼ inch pine, it produced off-cuts that were perfect "square dowels" that found immediate use in some detail work. Tip: When ripping or re-sawing, keep firm pressure on the work opposite the blade and toward the fence to prevent blade creep.

Bandsaw blade
I am not a production user so these blades seem okay for the price. Too early to say.

Good blade
Have only had the blade for a little while but so far really like it. Good weld and easy to Balance. Sharp clean cuts. I have a 220 volt saw so not sure what the performance is like on a 110.

This blade works great to re-saw softwoods on my Laguna 14BX band saw. I am ordering this one, as a spare.

I need a decent blade that will do some resawing until I can get one of the carbide blades. This fits that bill.

sure to work with the Laguna bandsaw

I have a small bandsaw for curve cuts etc and this is hopefully a decent compromise between the smaller Laguna blade and the ReSaw King blade. May still get the ReSaw King but we'll see.

I want to cut the wood I have purchased to the size that will fit the projects I build, mostly 1" to either 3/4" or 1/2" and save the remainder to do small projects instead of planning the material and having it go to waist.

No real reason. It fit the band saw I purchased

This blade impressed me. I was able to cut 0.030" veneer from a 6" high piece of oak, cut so smooth it did not need sanding.

Ease of ordering along with the band saw. I will have to assess the quality of the blade after I get a chance to use it.

does it fit a 20 Lobo bandsaw?
oscar j on Mar 5, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Lobo would have to tell you if this model of saw accepts 5/8" width and 115" lenght. 5/8" width should be no problem, but 115" is short for a 20" saw
The Laguna 14 bx 110-175 Which Mobility kit do I need to order to fit the band say?
Harold O on May 30, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I am actually not very happy with the mobility kit that I purchased with the saw - it has 3 wheels and one steers.
Given how heavy the saw is, and where the center of gravity is, I would suggest finding a 4 wheel mobility set up that would fit the saw. I also found the light that I purchased to make life more difficult, putting shadows along the cut line.
Good luck! the saw itself cuts beautifully!
