This is the steel wool to use for woodworking
The other steel wools are dirty and gritty. This stuff does a great job on wood.

easy final rubs
This is the greatest steel wool I've ever found. Due to the consistent thickness of the fibers, rubbing out irregularities in your topcoat can be done with ease. Variations in sheen can be eliminated with the aid of steel wool wax and Liberon's OOOO Steel Wool.

I build Mountain Dulcimers and I'm very "picky" about the final finish. I want the colors of the wood to glow and be silky smooth. Liberon is the only steel wool I'll use! I've tried other brands and their rating ( Fine, Extra Fine, etc) are no where accurate. I get the finish I want every time with Liberon.

Thanks,

JT

Liberon #0000 steel wool
I chose this per recommendation from the answer to a question I asked the Min Wax company. I has a project that I applied a Helmsmen high gloss polyurethane finish that was rough due to that fact that it was applied on a very hot day. I used the #oooo steel wool in conjunction with Min Wax furniture wax and it very slowly leveled out the rough spots without destroying the finish itself. I never thought of using an abrasive with wax. It worked and the piece turned out great. Since than I used it to refinish a cabinet that I had done two years ago that I was not satisfied with. It also turned out great. At 75 I strongly believe that one is never too old to learn something new.

For rubbing out finishes
This product is absolutely the finest on the market. The continuous strands will polish without scratching. I recommend using it with Black Bison wax to finish any high quality finish to a butter smooth feel and finish.

Excellent steel wool that seems to stay sharper longer than other kinds. Creates a super smooth satin finish.
2Dog Projects on Jul 15, 2016
This is the finest steel wool you'll ever find. I use it extensively for surface prep on exotic woods before, during, and after finishing. After the final sanding at 400-grit or so, a rubdown with 0000 Liberon makes the wood gleam. It's also great for cutting back an oil varnish finish between coats, or bringing it up to a lustrous satin surface. No other 0000 steel wool is even close to the Liberon.

Watched a video on YouTube by the makers of Tried & True. I built a farmtable for my daughter and wanted to finish it old-style and food safe. So I'm using the Danish oil first, then the Tried & True Original Wood Finish. They say to use 0000 steel wool to burnish,
