nicekit but the instructions are wrong
this is a good quality kit and it made for a very noce cane for a friend of mine, however, the instructions are wrong as to what size hole to drill for the threaded tip. I think they say drill at 7/32" for the 1/4-20 tip but since the threads are smoothed off, the screw just pushed into the hole. I ended up putting a brass threaded inset in to fix the issue, but be warned, check first, drill second

Because the ferrule with the rubber foot regularly falls off the threaded spike while walking. Tired of searching for it in the woods, I' m securing the next one with Loctite or super glue.

What is the inside diameter and length of the ferrule; and what size hole has to be drilled to fit in the aluminum inset?
John S on Aug 23, 2015
BEST ANSWER: It is approximately 1" on top of ferrule and 5/8" on the bottom. The hole you need to drill is 3/16" for soft wood and 7/32" for hardwood

What adhesive is best for attaching the brass fitting to wood walking stick?
James G on Jan 1, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I used a small amount of 2 part epoxy on mine. Been holding a couple years with no problems.
How do you get the end of the cane tapered to fit this tip?
Email U on Mar 20, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I used a carving knife to get the fit close rhen I took a sharpie and marked up the inside of the hardware then placed the taper on the end of the cane and swisted. This will leave the sharpie markings on the wood to show you where more material needs to be removed. Do this several timesand you will end up eith a perfext fit. Just be slow and patient
does this only come in brass tone? I would like this but in nickel or a similar silver tone
Miles T on Dec 31, 2019
BEST ANSWER: They forwarded this question to a fellow customer. I have no idea why they make the decisions they make. I wish they would stock replacement tip covers because they wear out fairly quickly and are easily lost. If you can find them elsewhere, I would buy from them rather than here. However these are the only ones I could find.

gig man on Feb 15, 2016

My handmade cane was snapped off about 4 inches from the bottom by a car seat pushed against it an an angle. The 2 pieces fit together well but need to be attached. Where or how can this be done?

Can the rubber foot and aluminum insert be bought separately? The user I built one for has a tendency to loose the foot. Would like to buy a few for back up!
Art C on May 16, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Have had this happen a few times - I hear the tip clicking when it loosens up. A small dab of threadlock will keep it secured.
two questions. 1) does the brass ferrule come in larger size and do any come in stainless steel?
lou r on Dec 27, 2017
BEST ANSWER: This is the only walking cane kit I’ve seen them carry. We’ve purchased several kits for walking sticks and they’ve all worked perfectly with the different diameter stick. We tapered the end to fit the ferrule and paired it with a brass ball top.
