When starting out.
Making a trip to Rocklers before I got started was a smart move!
Your reading this so I take it you have been to Rocklers. so you know how sweet the stores are and the people that work there are great. the tools are top of the line.
I left with some real good info and a set of
Robert Sorby Bowl Gouges and Fingernail Bowl Gouges.
They are so well balanced. I will be replacing all my Buck Bro tools with a complete set of Robert Sorby's.
I am new to wood turning,( 2 weeks). This piece was turned from the Peach stump its sitting on.
I made it a point to go to Rocklers before starting. I got a set

Beginner Bowl Turner's Delight
I recently began turning bowls and this was my first bowl turning tool. My first bowl was turned with forcing my spindle set to labor through the operation. It pays to use the right tool for the job. And I am somewhat an "old school" woodworker and sought out the bowl gouge rather than the carbide "easy tools" and shiny metal handled tools.

This tool is a must and I intend to follow up with a larger gouge and a suitable scraper. I chose based on reviews like this: reasonable price, solid construction, holds an edge, comfortable to use; all of which turned out to be true.

I recommend it. I will be adding other Sorby tools in time.
